Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it’s necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we’re able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia and New Zealand. If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team further.

JSM was recently recognised as "visionaries" by Gartner, and the team continues to drive forward our mission of becoming the service management tool for all teams. Achieving this mission needs design leaders who have deep customer empathy, love solving hard problems and inspire better outcomes in others.

Come join our team if you are ready to own the user experience, be the leading voice of the customer and can lead a passionate team of product and content designers!

When you join us, you will:

First and foremost, be responsible for fostering and growing design talent. You’re in it for the people and get your kicks from leading others to succeed. You will be comfortable wearing many different hats – a coach, a mentor, a partner to spar work with as well as a sounding board when things get tough. You will also work with product and engineering to create and define product strategy.

In this role, you will:

  • lead and inspire a mix of four product and content designers, helping them to do the best work of their lives.
  • be a strategic partner, collaborating with design leadership to drive our product vision.
  • partner with engineering and product management to define the strategy and goals for the mission.
  • steer the strategic design direction and help folks break it down into deliverable pieces.
  • lead team members in creating user-centric experiences with meaningful feedback loops.
  • encourage the use of data and research insights to test and improve user experiences.
  • set new craft quality standards across design and content creation processes.

It would great if you tick a few of the below boxes:

  • managed a cross-craft design team
  • experience in planning and then delivering user-centric experiences autonomously
  • great facilitation skills and a track record of collaborating with other functions, like engineering and product management.
  • bring story telling to the fore with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • develop a high degree of influence with all kinds of internal partners, including senior leadership.
  • a passion for making people better by supporting and guiding a team in constructive ways that encourage, energise, and increase their quality of work.
  • a hunger to learn and evolve in all aspects of design, product and leadership.
  • ability to provide teams with mentorship, direction, leadership, and support necessary to ensure that they're able to accomplish their goals
Your awesome team mission is to empower teams to start working:

Have you ever thought about how customers feel when they encounter a product for the first time? Nervous? Sceptical? Or are they excited? Imagine the range of emotions they’ll go through as they work through everything they need to get started. Where do they begin? What do they need to consider in order to decide what kind of setup they need, and then how do they configure things so their project supports the way they want to work? Who in their teams will be using this project and what permissions will they need to do their work effectively?

The heart of this mission is focused on precisely this; orchestrating all the experiences to empower teams to start working within JSM
