Working at Atlassian

Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Assuming you have eligible working rights and a sufficient time zone overlap with your team, you can choose to work remotely or return to an office as they reopen (unless it’s necessary for your role to be performed in the office). Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we’re able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in India. If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team further.

Do you live and breathe user experience, love solving problems and thrive on variety? If so, we have a great opportunity for you. We are looking for a Design Manager to work across our Data Center products. Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Bitbucket Data Center are Atlassian’s on-premise offers, used by some of our largest and most complex customers.

In this role, you'll get to:

  • Lead a team of designers, helping them develop their craft in all areas including research, visual, interaction and content design.
  • Work closely with product managers, engineering and other stakeholders to define product strategy and champion the user experience in our products.
  • Steer the strategic design direction and help folks break it down into deliverable pieces.
  • Improve design at Atlassian at an organisational level.
  • Establish (and maintain) a high-quality bar for shipped design work with your team.
  • Help your team plan and conduct exploratory user research and effective usability tests.
  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve workflows and user interfaces for the products you are working on.
  • Improve design thinking of the whole product team by including other team members in various design-related activities.

On your first day, we'll expect you to:

  • Bring previous experience managing or coaching a design team.
  • Have a strong passion for making people better. You’ll support and guide your team in constructive ways that encourage, energise, and increase their quality of work.
  • Have hands-on professional experience as a designer, ideally with software or complex web-based applications. Any design background is valid: researcher, UX, content or visual design.
  • Be hungry to learn and evolve in all aspects of design, product and leadership.
  • Provide teams with mentorship, direction, leadership, and support necessary to ensure that they're able to accomplish their goals.
  • Communicate clearly and have a high degree of influence with all kinds of internal partners including senior leadership.
  • Track record of collaborating with other functions, including engineering and product.
  • Be a self-starter with an eye for detail and the ability to get to the root of the problem with a laser focus on the customer.
