About The Role
We are looking for the Director, User Experience and Product Design to lead a team defining our visual voice and evolving our digital products. In this role, you will partner closely with editorial, commerce, brand publishing, and growth teams to design experiences for our web and mobile audiences, while partnering with product, engineering and to evolve our monetization opportunities and e-commerce platform.  You will oversee a growing product design team focusing on our primary digital experiences.  This will include recipes and content experiences, video, newsletters, events and commerce.

Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, you’ll work closely with our Product, Design and Engineering team and be a part of the PDE leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead user experience design and vision for digital experiences.
  • Lead, manage, mentor and grow the Product Design team.
  • Define the design vision and strategy based on business goals and objectives for our Digital Platforms.
  • Working with key stakeholders, Product Managers, Engineering, Editorial, Growth and Commerce teams to drive design solutions with a quantifiable business impact via design goals informed by analytics, competitive analysis, interviews and testing.
  • Collaborate on large-scale design projects across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to inform design direction on all major initiatives.
  • Lead our evolving design system initiatives across our platforms as well as site and app information architecture.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of combined experience in interactive design for web and mobile for media, advertising or commerce
  • Must have developed creative briefs, design documentation, internal and external pitches and style guides
  • Experience with all major platforms including web, mobile, email, and social
  • 5+ years building and managing teams, covering multiple disciplines of design
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary teams in creating products that consider users, innovation and usability, from strategic kickoff to launch and beyond
  • Experience with content management or e-commerce systems
  • Technical understanding of design methodologies, process and systems for full-stack designers, project management and agile workflows
  • Experience with highly-public content creation (education, video, or publishing), and how it translates into hands-on experiences
  • Demonstrated experience with conversion funnels, user journeys and UI flows

Compensation & Benefits
Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skillset and geographic location, and includes an annual bonus plan. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes:
