Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.

Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and Site Visibility. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role:

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Product Manager with strong leadership skills to own and drive the development of Samsara’s Telematics EV Product. This is a unique opportunity to take a product from concept to market and grow it into a high-revenue business. The ideal candidate will define the strategy, build the product, and own the P&L for this business line. As this product grows, you will manage a small team of product managers to help scale and drive high growth.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, sales, and marketing, to build a best-in-class EV telematics solution. This role is perfect for a strategic thinker who is passionate about EVs, telematics, and fleet management and who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
  • You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment.
  • You’re energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and Execute Product Strategy: Create and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Samsara’s telematics solution for electric vehicles. Identify market opportunities and gaps, focusing on building a differentiated product that addresses the unique needs of EV fleet operators.
  • Own P&L and Business Growth: Take full ownership of the EV product line’s P&L, from first revenue to scaling the product into a high-growth business. Set financial targets and performance metrics to ensure the product’s commercial success.
  • Product Development: Work closely with engineering, design, and data science teams to develop the EV telematics product. Prioritize features that enhance fleet management capabilities, such as battery management, charging optimization, and range analysis.
  • Go-to-Market and Revenue Generation: Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to create and execute a go-to-market strategy that drives early adoption, establishes product-market fit, and ensures successful customer onboarding. Lead efforts to acquire the first set of customers and drive initial revenue.
  • Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings in the EV and fleet management space. Use this research to inform product development and ensure that Samsara’s EV solution remains competitive and relevant.
  • Leadership & Team Management: As the product grows, hire, mentor, and lead 1-2 product managers to help scale the EV product line. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer-centricity within the team.
  • Collaboration Across the Organization: Partner with legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure the product complies with regulatory requirements and operates within budget constraints. Work closely with customer-facing teams to gather feedback and iterate on the product.
  • Evangelize the Product: Act as the primary advocate for the EV telematics product both internally and externally. Share the vision and roadmap across the organization, engaging stakeholders at all levels and driving excitement and alignment.
  • Drive Innovation: Continuously explore new opportunities to innovate within the EV fleet management space, leveraging Samsara’s IoT platform and data analytics to provide unique insights and operational efficiencies for fleet managers.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: You are an entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking a product from zero to one. You thrive in ambiguous environments and enjoy building things from the ground up.
  • Ownership of P&L: Experience in owning a product’s P&L and making strategic decisions based on financial performance and revenue growth targets.
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience, ideally within the telematics, automotive, EV, or fleet management industries.
  • EV Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the electric vehicle landscape, including challenges related to fleet electrification, battery management, and charging infrastructure.
  • Track Record of Delivering Results: Proven success in taking products from concept to market and scaling them into high-growth businesses. Ability to manage complex projects with tight deadlines and bold targets.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience in managing, developing, and scaling a small product team (1-2 PMs) while fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture.
  • Strong Technical Acumen: Ability to grasp technical concepts related to telematics, EV management, and IoT solutions. Able to work closely with engineers and establish credibility in technical discussions.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to guide decision-making, product prioritization, and performance measurement.
  • Excellent Communication & Presentation Skills: Comfortable presenting to senior leadership, customers, and stakeholders across various functions. Ability to effectively communicate product vision and strategy.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Business, or equivalent professional experience.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience in EV Fleet Management: Prior experience building or working on products specifically for EV fleet operators, including telematics, charging optimization, and vehicle monitoring solutions.
  • Proven Experience in High-Growth Companies: Experience working in a high-growth tech or SaaS company, ideally in a product leadership role where you scaled a product line into a significant revenue generator.
  • Passion for Sustainability and Electrification: A strong personal or professional interest in the future of electric vehicles, fleet sustainability, and the role of technology in driving positive environmental outcomes.
