About the role:

The Director of Product Design will provide the creative vision for the design team and the whole organization at MetaMap. In this role, you will establish processes and practices for realizing that vision and setting the bar for quality. You will also contribute to developing brand definition and experience principles and ensure that these are all appropriately interpreted through the team’s work.

About the Product Design Team:

The Product Design team is part of the Product department and is currently comprised of 2 Senior Product Designers and 1 Graphic Designer. We are looking forward to adding more talented designers to support the other functions like visual design, illustrations, and motion design.

Key responsibilities:

• Hire, mentor, and lead product design leads with a focus on the leader’s ability to scale and deliver excellence in a sustainable way

• Set the pace and direction of work as it relates to the key goals and strategy of the company

• Partner with leadership to create and contribute to strategic initiatives that shape the future direction of MetaMap’s products

• Design your organization/vertical to develop the capacity and culture all designers want to be a part of and work within

• Own and manage overall organization/vertical performance and health, resource allocation, project prioritization, and building a culture of design excellence

• Drive excellence for design competence through the development of best practices and standards; act as a source of inspiration and lead by example

Skills & Experience:

• Experience in managing a Design team or Product Design managers in a scaled organization

• You know the difference between good and great product experiences and have demonstrated the ability to get large teams to greatness

• Experience building, leading, and developing strategic design organizations, including a proven track record in mentoring and developing senior design leaders

• Demonstrated collaboration and relationship-building skills with executive teams

• Experience developing strategic initiatives, opportunity analysis, and negotiating business trade-offs

• Experience working autonomously to influence decisions across organizational boundaries

• Experiences in fast-paced and high-growth environments, such as product companies or startups

• Proven ability to inspire design leaders and their teams

• Excellent written, verbal, and storytelling skills in English

Nice-to-have:

• Experience creating a No-code workflow builder from scratch
