Design System Lead Technologist

Your work will impact and influence the user experience of a product used by millions of people daily. As a Lead Technologist , you will work closely with other designers, engineers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders. While this is not a managerial role with direct reports, we expect our Lead Technologist to lead by example and coach the team into doing their best work.

What you'll do

• Responsible for creating the development roadmap and overseeing priority and execution for components, libraries, patterns and documentation of our design system
• Maintain and improve a Design System development contribution model for the product organization
• Plan strategically as a partner with engineers to define the future of design systems
• Drive momentum around priorities with resilience and positivity
• Ensure pertinent information is communicated and understood by partners and leadership
• Help to maintain and improve cross-functional collaboration, relationships and processes around the system
• Measure, improve, and align system impact metrics with company objectives and help communicate the value of the Design System on the business
• Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills  

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of modern front-end build systems and languages
• Strong understanding of UI performance and latency optimization
• Strong appreciation for design, attention to detail and accuracy in implementation
• Strong knowledge of accessibility guidelines
• Strong understanding of localization needs and how to embed into components

In addition to deep, applied knowledge of Design Systems, this role requires 

• Human-focused, highly-collaborative, critical and strategic thinker.
• Successful track record of creating and managing impactful design systems and processes.
• At least 12 years of relevant professional experience, with 5+ years in building and maintaining design systems
• You have a body of work that highlights design systems you have created or largely contributed to.

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

• For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $203,000- $248,000.
• For New York City-based and California (excluding Bay Area) and Washington D.C. hires: Estimated annual salary of $230,000 - $281,000.
• For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $234,000 - $286,000.
