Career Changer - Curious Human - Design Researcher

We’re looking for a Curious Human to join our growing team in London. This role is a unique opportunity to move from your existing career and grow into a user researcher, all while helping Wise understand more about its customers’ needs. You may have a background in social research, finance, accountancy, legal services, education or psychology.  We will teach you the rest.

This role will give you the opportunity to apply the great skills you already have to a new discipline. You will: 

• Grow as a practitioner - you’ll work with your Research Lead to learn how to design and deliver lean, agile user experience research.  
• Build insight for a team - As your confidence grows, you’ll have the freedom to make your own calls about how best to learn about customer needs, help designers make knowing decisions and help Wise reach mission zero.
• Learn how to build digital products - You will apply your curiosity to problems whilst working side-by-side with product design, copy, engineering, and product managers solving customer problems and learning how digital businesses work.
• Grow the research practice - The research team at Wise is growing and you will be part of helping establish how we conduct research at a global scale, your fresh perspective will add fresh perspective to the team.

About you: 

• You are a natural communicator and storyteller, able to listen closely to what people say and notice what they don’t say.  You can make the complex seem simple.
• You will want to learn about both generative and evaluative research methods and are comfortable independently initiating and running research.
• Your curiosity will help you learn from the research efforts of your Research Lead and mentor; you will be happy to watch, learn and figure stuff out for yourself, checking in with your lead when you need it.
• You’re able to work with your peers to negotiate and prioritise efforts effectively - and can provide a clear rationale to your decisions.

Your mission:

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard-earned money with the world’s first platform to offer true multi-currency banking. Your mission is to enable one of the Squads at Wise to understand more about customer behaviour.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing when you have transitioned to a fully fledged user researcher:

• You’ll build our understanding of how customers think about sending money across the globe.
• You’ll be embedded in a cross functional product team where you will work to  ensure that your team has enough knowledge to build the right things, the right way. You’ll also support your team by evaluating their solutions to customer problems.
• You’ll be a skillful advocate for our customers needs - facilitating the research needs of teams, supporting your lead to connect research needs across teams and helping to talk about problems, needs and ideas in a way that creates real meaning for your team and impact for our customers.
