Role Description

The Design Operations team is the connective tissue of the Design Strategy & Operations team. We are focused on developing thoughtful, tactical orchestration of programs spanning people, process, and design practices. Our work is critical to ensuring our design teams are set up for success so people are empowered to effectively work together. Our team is made up of process designers from diverse backgrounds who deeply care about helping people reach their highest potential and creating impact at scale. DesignOps is a trusted partner to design teams, design leadership, and cross functional partners to make cohesion our of chaos.  

As a Design Program Manager (DPM) you will be focused on supporting an, established Design organization that spans Product Design, Content Design, and Brand. DPMs are creative problem solvers, connectors and phenomenal communicators who embrace change. You will play a crucial role in supporting People, Process, and Community programs. Your primary objective as a DPM Intern will be to help design and execute on a scalable process improvement plan for a specific operations project. In addition to lending support to existing DPMs programs, the capstone project is intended to help you gain hands-on experience about supporting impact-driven programs for in-house Design teams. You will gain a strong understanding of design thinking principles, process design, meeting facilitation, effective communication practices, as well as measurement and enablement. You will learn to assess situational needs in a fast paced creative organization, and build relationships within the cross functional partnerships.

Responsibilities

As the Design Program Management Intern, you will:
  • Be instrumental in the team's adaptation of a creative tools and processes to coordinate multiple functions and project streams
  • Your key project will be to learn and evaluate the team's current processes, establish reporting and key metrics measurements, and issue status reports on projects in development
  • You will engage with cross-functional teams (creative, product management, globalization, photo, design, etc), help to create and optimize the intake experience, and coordinate multiple work streams
  • Lead independent evaluation of our processes, tools and recommend/implement improvements
  • Prepare and co-facilitate events or workshops with impact and efficiency always top of mind
  • Build and execute on communicate strategies based on different mediums, audiences and objectives in order to engage, increase transparency, and influence decision-making
  • Create program templates based on current product lifecycle processes

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (graduating in/after Dec 2023) in Business, Communication, Marketing, Liberal Arts, (or similar)
  • The ideal candidate is well-organized with a high level of attention to detail
  • Aspire to build a career within the creative design industry, and to understand their interdependencies and complexities of implementing change within those environments
  • Possess analytical and communication skills, and a risk mitigation mindset
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt to changing situations
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving and working in teams 
  • Thoroughly enjoys being the connective force between people, things and ideas
  • Familiarity with design & project management tools including but not limited to: Figma, Airtable, GSuite and JIRA
  • Independent self starter with a focus on process improvements, especially in creative spaces
