Role Description

Design Program Managers (DPMs) are natural connectors and are essential in helping our Design Team strategize, define, track and deliver work across our global community. DPMs excel at being collaborators, problem solvers, and team leaders, removing roadblocks enabling our creative community to stay focused on delivering innovative solutions to our partners and customers. 
We are seeking our next DPM to focus on community programs and collaboration. We’re looking for a passionate connector, strong communicator, and systems thinker who is excited to build programs that drive quality design, connection and belonging. We’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable starting programs from scratch as they are motivated to scale these programs using creative thinking, intuition, and data-driven insights. The ideal DPM is an exceptional communicator who cares deeply about developing Design as a craft, operations as a discipline, and building strategic work streams that connect people to information. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify, define and manage cross-functional strategic design community initiatives spanning Advocacy and Outreach, Communication, Team Building, Craft Development.
  • Develop a coordinated content and events community strategy from conceptualization to execution and measurement to account for, promote, engage, celebrate, and measure the impact of the internal and external community programs. 
  • Enrich the design community by defining, memorializing, and evangelizing our processes through comprehensive best-practice, engaging documentation, video or audio content.
  • Own KPIs with an eye towards driving progress against goals and objectives, and establish clear next steps and owners while resolving blocks that impede progress.
  • Act as a bridge between the design team and cross-functional partners by making sure interdependencies are understood and planned for.
  • Define and measure impact of programs and initiatives both qualitatively and quantitatively. Continually refines and iterates to ensure usage and adoption.
  • Bring order to complex programs and scope and prioritize projects, identify risks and dependencies, define schedules, and work independently.
  • Identify and drive large, organization-level design program initiatives forward that have multiple stakeholders, competing deadlines, multiple dependencies and many moving parts.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in program/project management and program/project planning.
  • Experience developing original programs within medium-to-large in-house design teams or creative agencies focused on process, tooling, and community engagement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to create easily digestible, persuasive messaging across many communication mediums (verbal, written, audible), and collaborative tools (Slack, email, GSuite, Dropbox, Zoom, recorded instructional videos, podcasts, etc.) for a wide range of audiences. A sincere appreciation for the written language and the art of communication a plus. Wordsmiths and punsters always welcome. 
  • Demonstrated success organizing stakeholders from different organizations across the company around shared objectives, metrics and activities.
  • Experience managing multi-quarter OKRs, SMTs, KPIs or similar processes (collaborative goal-setting, measurement methodology).
  • Interpersonal skills to influence, maintain strong relationships, and collaborate at all levels to ensure delivery of program.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent projects/programs and successful delivery in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience translating business needs into roadmaps, clearly defined requirements, and delivery/project plans.
  • Experience (and interest) in implementing and managing project management tools (Jira); Experience monitoring and reporting progress.
  • Deep understanding of fundamentals of the design development processes.
  • Able to effectively set, assign and prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to navigate and operate through ambiguity.
  • Experience setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-based (SMART) metrics and goals.
  • Education: BA/ BS

Total Rewards

Through our assessment process, we will identify your level that ties to compensation based on your experience and technical expertise along with the scope of the role.

For candidates hired in Colorado, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is $94,500 - $111,200 - $127,900 if you are assessed at the IC3 level. If you are instead assessed at the IC4 level, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is $114,600 - $134,800 - $155,000.
This salary/OTE range represents the low, middle, and high end of the salary or OTE (Sales roles) range for this position, and is subject to change. To determine a Dropboxer’s starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. This position may be considered a promotional opportunity.
Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
