The Design Manager, reporting to our Chief Design Officer, will manage a small team of designers, working on customer products and Sure’s core product experiences. You will project-manage and take a hands-on approach to solving design challenges. We’re looking for a knowledgeable manager who is excited by the opportunity to guide, coach and support a highly skilled group of designers.

The Product Design team at Sure beautifully solves important problems in intuitive ways. Our product designers are full stack, and the workflow includes product discovery, design strategy, wireframing, user journey mapping, iterative prototyping, user research, user testing, and visual design. We take a user-centric approach to solving design challenges and are focused on growing our industry-leading expertise in both SaaS and consumer-facing products.

What you’ll be doing:

Ensure consistently high quality experiences are delivered by your team on time.
Help your team to understand what’s important to the business, and how to convert creative skill and strategy into measurable impact
Understand needs and set expectations with cross-functional partners around design and creative resourcing commitments.
Analyze project requirements and outcomes, and assist in work breakdown, planning and estimating of team projects.
Plan the schedule and work iterations for each sprint.
Ensure and promote collaboration with product, engineering, and business teams to uncover customer and business needs for translation to intuitive and engaging digital experiences.
Consistently empower and manage the designers on your team, pushing them to produce their best work.
Promote an environment that enables deep focus and meaningful work.
Promote effective storytelling and presentation of visual concepts to various stakeholders.
Champion the importance of participation in critiques, content creation, and collaboration.
Ensure team has a direct and vital impact on the quality of company's products and business.
Define and refine the bar of the quality design and organization for the team.
Partner with division leadership to drive consistency in design and development of all Platform initiatives.
Develop, elevate, and evangelize Sure’s visual and written brand identity.

What we're looking for:

4+ years people management experience for a product design team
7+ years experience in user centric design
An interest and passion for developing designers’ skills and careers
Experience contributing to and/or creating design systems and tooling
Someone who has shipped several real-life products—and seen to their growth
Some experience in front end development (HTML, CSS)
Strong proficiency with Creative Suite, Sketch/Figma, prototyping & developer handoff tools.
An excellent communicator who can work well with clients and diverse teams
A portfolio of top-notch product work that demonstrates strong design and UX skills
