Design Manager job at Spotify

Financial Engineering (FinE) is looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead a design team to support all our product areas such as revenue, royalties, data, sales, and fraud. Working together, and with critical partners, these product areas are focused on accelerating Spotify’s growth and performance with a trusted financial platform, providing valuable data and insights for our partners. The design team will consist of a mix of User Researchers and Product Designers.

What You'll Do

Work closely with a cross-functional team to conceptualize and build tools, features and insights for our external products and music partners
Identify design needs in the Financial Engineering space and build out the design strategy for the new formed function.
Directly lead the current design team of 3 designers, currently in the royalties product area.
Growing the design team with additional designers making the team available to cope with immediate needs in the new areas but also to give enough bandwidth to support unexplored areas.
Guide the design team through their work while also keeping an eye on the bigger picture and driving the overall vision.
Identify and grow talent within the design team, setting them up for success through mentorship and coaching.
Be the link between the Financial Engineering team and the wider Spotify design community.
You are willing to get hands-on, partnering closely with other designers and/or engineering teams.
Design thinking evangelist within Financial Engineering
Actively participates in key initiatives to help shape and guide solutions
Works closely with leaders in Financial Engineering and communicates across leaders throughout the finance space.

Who you are

You have 5-7+ years of experience leading design teams through building platforms and products, collaborating closely with product and tech leadership.
You have extensive and shown experience as an IC in various forms.
You have experience building a design function from scratch to a mature well-known function.
You have experience working with financial data exposed both to internal and external users.
You’re adaptable working in spaces with some ambiguity and defer to data-driven execution and testing
Passionate about design and what it can do for the music, content, and technology industries
You’re an excellent communicator. You have the communication skills to help you work cross-functionally with internal partners and external partners alike. You prosper when developing outstanding people and phenomenal products
You have a broad product design background and are well-versed in data-informed product design and development
You want to make an impact and tackle big sophisticated issues
