This team is responsible for the design system and 1Password platform across macOS, iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and our browser extension. This team is tasked with providing a consistent, intuitive platform across experiences by supporting designers with components and materials in our design system nicknamed Knox.
We’re looking for a design leader that excels in detail-oriented, system thinking to support our designers and a desire to delight our customers.
This role is responsible for managing the design and implementation of components, and collaborating closely with the rest of the design department to ensure those components improve the customer’s experience. You will work closely with and report to the Chief Experience Officer, organizing the roadmap of work and the individuals responsible.
This is a Remote opportunity within Canada, the US, the UK and the Netherlands.
What we're looking for:
- Comfortable managing and leading design teams
- Knowledge and experience of design systems
- Experience with Figma components and variables
- Great communication skills with the ability to take input and make decisions
- An eye for visual design and detail
What you'll do:
- Further the open, supportive and welcoming culture within the design department
- Consult across design and engineering to prioritize the design system roadmap
- Create programs and ceremonies to communicate around and educate on the design system
- Managing and monitoring the helpfulness of the design system with both engineering and design
- Managing both designers to create components and engineers to implement them, applying individuals strengths and creating opportunities
What you can expect by month 1:
- Learn the basics of our design system
- Take the first steps towards plotting improvements
- Collaborate with the other teams to get insight on components needed
What you can expect by month 3:
- Start to schedule a roadmap of work
- Prepare internal release notes and communicate design system changes
- Manage component libraries, guidelines, and templates that effectively communicate design needs across the department
- Familiarize yourself with each individual platforms quirks
What you can expect by month 6:
- Knowledgeable of how design components are used and which need updating
- Take complete ownership of the design system and deliver well-documented, high fidelity components that reflect our brand
