The Role

We are looking for a passionate, entrepreneurial, and creative design manager for our product design team. If you are looking for an opportunity to apply your design expertise and lead innovation in the fight against climate change, then this is the job for you.
As a design manager, you will leverage your extensive experience to build a high-performing, diverse, and healthy team. You will work for your team, leading them from the front through all aspects of the UX design of our products. You will play a key role in engaging with cross-functional stakeholders within the company to ensure that the team delivers our business objectives. You will be a servant leader who empowers your team to grow and succeed together.  You provide constructive mentorship where needed. You are a lifelong learner with a passion for establishing a world-class product design culture.
Your mastery of applying user-centric design practices to software platforms is critical, as well as your ability to lead design initiatives from start to finish. You should have experience leading design teams, and be able to articulate advanced design concepts in interdisciplinary and senior environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design great products and build a great team
  • Work with product teams to deliver great software experiences and can take holistic ownership of the design process from strategy to screen.
  • Manage people and building great cultures.
  • Launch software across an ambiguous product area. Plan and prioritize time and effort.
  • Efficiently use modern design tools to create assets, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups.

  • Support product development
  • Advocate for design thinking that ensures the products we build solve real problems for real users.
  • Make pragmatic decisions balancing business outcomes, product wins, technical constraints, and design excellence.

  • Be a team player
  • Collaborate with colleagues from different professional backgrounds (e.g., science, tech, product, marketing, ...).
  • Have a point of view but remain open-minded. Welcome diverse perspectives and encourage others to generate and explore new ideas.
  • Learn forever and nurture those around you. Role model by inviting and freely giving well-intentioned, constructive feedback.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in UX design, with some management experience.
  • Experience managing and growing a team.
  • Mastery of design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Experience with web development languages (e.g., HTML, CSS).
  • Ability to articulate advanced product design concepts and principles to non-experts.
  • Ability to conduct user research and produce high-quality, relevant data.
  • Ability to build strong relationships while working with a fully-remote, global team.
  • Passion for addressing climate change is critical.
  • Experience building new products and platforms is a strong plus.
  • Experience working in the climate technology space is a strong plus.
