Design Lead

We're looking for a thought leader and skilled manager with a deep understanding of design processes to guide VanMoof's vision. And as a Design Lead, you'll bring that vision to life. You'll amplify designers' ability to work efficiently and effectively within their team and collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, and other stakeholders on our overarching brand strategy.

You'll collaborate closely with our Marketing team to understand our riders worldwide and improve their experience by identifying and optimizing the moments that matter most. We'll expect you to work with the Experience Design team to establish a shared vision, and with the Product team to prioritize initiatives into roadmaps for development.

Our ideal candidate has at least six years of experience working to bring multi-touchpoint experiences to life, and can lead by example. You should have excellent project and stakeholder management skills.

What you'll do:

• You'll provide the team with direction and guide other Designers so they can optimize for better usability and accessibility (using a combination of best practices and user testing).

• You'll connect the Design team's activities to business objectives and guide Product teams so they can effectively measure new initiatives for effectiveness.

• You'll capture multiple inputs, telling a story that convinces stakeholders of strategic decisions.

• You'll work with teams to plan and prioritize research opportunities, while making sure that we keep on exploring the behaviors and motivations of our riders through proactive qualitative and quantitative research activities.

• You'll lead the team to make sure that our design language system is doing all it can to inform and convert potential riders.

• You'll make sure that individual Product teams keep the big picture front of mind, connecting the dots across teams to keep the experience aligned.

• You'll have a thorough understanding of technology, and make design recommendations that push the limits of what's possible while also anticipating implementation issues before they arise.

• You'll set the Design team up for success by creating an approach based on project briefs and continuously adapting that approach to changing project and stakeholder needs.

What you'll bring:

• You have a formal education in design or related behavioral science discipline.

• You have at least two years of experience in managing a team of designers.

• You're proficient with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Miro, Adobe CC, Framer, etc.)

• You have a history of working with the entire product cycle, from ideation to execution.

• You have experience designing and leading collaboration activities with stakeholders and users.

• You can present to diverse audiences persuasively.

• You have experience setting a strategy and aligning team members and stakeholders to a common purpose.

• You have experience providing project teams with the confidence and discipline to explore and innovate.

• You have a passion for leading by example and mentoring others.
