Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it’s necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

Content is a powerful and essential element of the user experience. At Atlassian, we look at the way we communicate information to our customers as an end-to-end journey. Our Content Designers specialise in guiding users through their journey with our products by providing carefully crafted documentation and in-product text. If you can explain complex features within tiny amounts of product real estate and communicate value in a compelling, clear, and effective way, come join the Metrics & Insights team!
Our mission is to unleash the potential of every team by providing actionable insights in Jira Software that help teams plan, track, release, and deliver outcomes more effectively. As a Content Designer joining the team, you will own the information experience for the customer journeys in this space and contribute to projects that benefit the larger documentation community here at Atlassian as well. If that statement makes your eyes light up, you might be who we're looking for.

We need you to have:

  • A love for both technical and user content work
  • Amazing writing skills and experience writing for software products
  • Experience working with and influencing software teams, product managers, and designers
  • A track record of working in and managing documentation and UI copy projects in a fast-paced agile environment

We’d love it if you bring:

  • 3+ years of hands-on professional experience as a content designer, UX writer, or similar
  • An understanding of how content design connects to business objectives
  • An eye for detail and the ability to get to the root of the problem while working autonomously
  • Experience in improving or building both information architectures and content strategies
  • Strong communication skills that you can use to interact with and influence stakeholders
  • The ability to see the whole user experience, rather than just the part you’re working on, and have as much skill in identifying what needs to be removed, as you do in suggesting what can be added
  • An appreciation for research and a proven understanding of the techniques required to develop customer empathy, validate concepts, and test for comprehension
  • Experience working with Enterprise-grade tools, working with technical documentation in an Agile environment, or using content testing tools.
  • Experience working with data, especially helping users understand and take action from charts
  • Where you may have gaps, a strong desire to learn and grow is key! A growth mindset and a collaborative attitude are critical to success in this role.

As a content designer at Atlassian you’ll:

  • Make a substantial impact at scale. We have more than 10M users all around the world—and teams (massive and small) depend on our software to do their work. Organizations like NASA, Twitter, and LinkedIn use Atlassian products everyday;. As a content designer involved in everything from ground floor content strategy to UI copy, your work will have incredible customer impact.
  • Tackle interesting, complex problems. Working closely with your engineering and product partners, you'll have a large amount of ownership and autonomy through the design process and rather than just work on individual features, you'll have the opportunity to improve the end-to-end experience of an exciting and critical area of our business.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with some of the smartest (and nicest) people in the industry. Day-to-day you'll work on a fast-moving, multidisciplinary product team, collaborating closely with Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers, Researchers, Marketing Experts, and Analysts to champion the user experience in our products and ship high-quality work.
  • Be a true champion for our users. We take design seriously, and in line with one of our core values, ("Don't F the Customer") are on a mission to become an experience-led company. We want to make our customers love how easily our products help them.
