Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

Square is looking for a Content Designer to join a fast-shipping, fast-learning, and global-minded web team within Global Marketing.

As a Content Designer, you’ll create meaningful and engaging marketing experiences for squareup.com, that guide site visitors toward action across our global web presence. You'll partner with art directors, designers, motion artists, and copywriters beyond your immediate team. You'll communicate with teams responsible for other pages and experiences we direct traffic to, including our home pages, product pages, and onboarding.

**Please include a link to your portfolio or work samples along with any necessary passwords**

You Will:

  • Translate marketing strategies into meaningful web experiences using Square's brand voice and tone. You'll use existing site components where possible, and partner with designers and front-end engineers when a custom approach is appropriate.

  • Communicate ideas and iterate quickly across various levels of fidelity, to a wide range of audiences amidst many divergent perspectives.
  • Build mastery of our existing content model and components.
  • Build and edit pages directly in our Content Management System.
  • Build and maintain copy doc templates based on existing CMS components, for use by yourself and writers across the organization.

  • Juggle a mix of large and small projects, often with overlapping priority and urgency.
  • Ship quickly. Find new efficiencies. Keep an eye on the small stuff. Write it down for next time. Make it work.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience writing and designing content experiences for web
  • An ability to create an engaging content journey using existing components and content models
  • Familiarity with responsive and mobile-first design/writing practices
