Netflix is building the world’s leading entertainment service, offering great TV shows, movies and games that push the boundaries of storytelling and delight members around the world. We’re seeking an experienced content designer to support our consumer messaging ecosystem, delivering the right messages at the right time, to nurture Netflix’s relationship with members.
The Role
As we grow globally, we have increasing opportunities to communicate with and delight our members and prospective members in new ways. This team focuses on innovating on the platforms, systems and channels that let us reach our members around the world.
Despite the term “messaging”, this role’s impact lies not in crafting compelling messages (though we believe this is at the heart of our craft), but in the product thinking, systems thinking, and strategic prowess to be able to connect the dots across multiple complex product domains. We’re looking for a highly ambitious, collaborative, and experienced Content Designer who will help shape Netflix’s messaging experiences for our members. This includes creating best practices that scale, innovating on our messaging design system, and creating a holistic vision for how Netflix communicates across platforms and channels.
You will also partner closely with product designers and cross-functional peers working across our various product teams to deliver a delightful, engaging, and highly relevant messaging experience for our Netflix members.
About Our Team
Our team designs the inbound and outbound messaging experiences for Netflix across multiple channels, specifically email, push, and in-app notifications. We build the platform tooling used to create messages, inform the algorithmic inputs that let us communicate with members at the right time and place, and design the modular frameworks that shape the look and feel of our messages. These experiences span our entire product and help shape Netflix’s relationship with members. You’ll be one of the design leads who crafts these experiences and shapes the future of messaging across our product. To do so, you’ll work in tight partnership with product leads, designers, engineers, data scientists, product marketing specialists, research and more.
About You
- You have demonstrated experience working across complex product domains to apply the principles of content design/content strategy, UX writing and design systems.
- You have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
- You’re a storyteller at heart who can craft and orchestrate cohesive narratives across touchpoints, both in the product and internally to drive alignment.
- You’re a systems thinker who’s familiar with the development of information architecture, design systems and language frameworks that scale.
- You’re self-motivated, proactive, highly organized, and have a steadfast attention to detail.
- You’re a product thinker who’s comfortable with innovating and finding creative solutions.
- You work collaboratively to drive alignment and prioritization, while partnering with cross-functional peers across design, engineering and product, to define a strong UX.
- You thrive in ambiguity and are comfortable distilling complex business and user needs into actionable strategies and outcomes.
- You communicate productively with visual thinkers and are comfortable presenting and advocating for your point of view in a candid, feedback-driven culture.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant Content Design experience: UX writing, content design/content strategy, design systems, technical writing, taxonomy, and IA.
- Experience synthesizing business requirements and user needs into actionable plans and design solutions.
- Experience working on consumer messaging systems and platforms - such as CRM systems or platform tools, building content frameworks and templates, specializing in working on global brands/experiences.
- Ability to think critically about user journeys and content flows, and to connect the dots between them.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and traverse altitudes from strategic visioning to tactical execution.
- Mastery of AP style and the confidence to know when to break the rules.
- Highly collaborative, organized and self-directed, able to effectively prioritize and respond accordingly to the shifting needs of the team.
