What's the opportunity? 🤔

Set the standard for making all internet business personal by leading with conversational design. By working with a company that has a deep love for content-first experiences, the work you do will impact how Intercom positions itself in the industry and how its content discipline scales.

As a valued member of the Growth Group you’ll be responsible for both the prospective customer and early user journey. You’ll help to drive product awareness, evaluation, adoption, activation and expansion – both in the product and by partnering closely with go-to-market teams. Playing a key part in defining how Intercom achieves its growth goals. 

You will do meaningful content design work at a highly admired product-driven company that's driving real change in the industry. You will be working with our product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure our product interface content serves our customers and helps our business thrive.

In this fixed term contract role for 6 months you’ll work alongside six product designers in the Growth Group, reporting directly to the Growth Group Design Manager. Your specific focus will be to transform our sign-up, onboarding, activation and purchase experiences.

What will I be doing? 🚀

  • Understand the language at the heart of the product.
  • Use terminology that resonates with prospects and customers and give them the right information at the right time.
  • Help refine concepts and definitions within our system.
  • Create more efficient structures that help our customers do their jobs.
  • Evolve our tone of voice to make sure it always feels personal and considered.
  • Work hand-in-hand with designers, product managers and engineers, research and analytics, shipping iteratively every week.
  • Work across multiple projects simultaneously, using that cross-team vantage point to your advantage in driving coherence.
  • Collaborate with other in-house content professionals, PMM, Marketing, Editorial etc., to solve user needs at every touchpoint.

What skills do I need? 📖

  • Just like every designer, you’re a problem solver at heart - your medium is words.
  • You have a strong content and/or linguistic background.
  • You have a strong understanding of design, including behaviour patterns and system design.
  • You have an understanding of how to design simple user interfaces.
  • You’re able to think deeply about why and how language and interfaces work together, with a strong, clear point of view of the impact of language within design.
  • You have experience of various forms of testing to validating your work. 
  • You’re an excellent self starter who can deeply collaborate with designers and engineers.
  • You’re an excellent communicator and can display the rationale and value behind your work.
  • You’re organised and have worked in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
  • You can balance the needs of multiple, simultaneous tracks of work.
  • You’re able to easily switch between thinking creatively and analytically.
