Wise is one the fastest growing companies in Europe and we’re on a mission: to make money without borders the new normal. We’ve got 16 million customers across the globe and we’re growing. Fast.

Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply.

So, we’re building a new one.

Our mission is money without borders – instant, convenient, transparent and eventually free. We are building the world’s first true multi-currency banking infrastructure which is based on robust foundations that evolve as the needs of our business and users change. To achieve this, we think about our underlying platform as a product, taking into consideration the user needs and outcomes we want to achieve with each service.

This role is a unique opportunity to develop your product skills and technical knowledge at a significant scale. By building a platform that enables our engineers to deliver new features with high quality even faster, your contributions will have a major impact on Wise’s mission.

Platform is a broad domain covering data, compute, networking, CI/CD, SRE, developer experience and much more. We want our APMs (associate product managers) to keep a laser focus on one or two teams at a time, then move on and gain experience across a wide cross section of the platform tribe in the long term. This kind of experience and exposure is hard to find at such a rapidly scaling business and technology stack.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to platform:

  • Your mission is to partner with our platform engineering teams to build world-class products for our internal users.
  • Work with a broad range of technologies to find and deliver improvements that have real mission impact.
  • Identify and unlock opportunities across infrastructure, data services, reliability and developer productivity.
  • Collaborate with many different functions across Wise to gather, understand and translate user needs into reliable, scaleable, performant and efficient platform services.
  • Communicate critical insights by analysing and connecting data.

About you:

  • Use analytical and customer insights to learn about problems and understand how to scope and measure the impact of potential changes.
  • Able to clearly articulate a problem, work with engineers to define a solution and follow it through to completion without supervision.
  • Expose and assess the various trade-offs when prioritising work and creating a roadmap.
  • Identify and coordinate operational challenges, balance the needs of internal customers with the needs of platform engineering teams.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, build trust with your team and get buy-in for your plans from the wider organisation.
  • Have a good understanding of how developers work and the diverse challenges associated with DevOps and a cloud-native environment.
  • Familiar with SRE principles.

Some extra skills that would be great:

  • Experience in end-to-end product development as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Product Specialist, Project Manager, Scrum-master or similar.
  • Being comfortable with running your own quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Previous experience in a software engineering or similar role.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Never be bored: You'll get to work on an evolving set of problems, from internal developer experience to deeply technical infrastructure development.
  • Learn your path to impact - we believe people are most empowered when they can act autonomously. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll work with your lead and teams around you to find your own route to impact the mission.
  • Work with experienced product managers, engineering leads, engineers and analysts to develop your skills at an enterprise scale.
