About the role
As an Associate Product Operations Specialist (Flight Expert), you will be an important contributor to the growth and continued improvement of the Product Operations Team at Scott's Cheap Flights. You will closely collaborate with our team to source, package, and publish flight deals that help our millions of members pay less to travel the world while using your industry and product expertise to help level up all aspects of Scott’s Cheap Flights product. You will work with a team dedicated to ensuring our members have a positive experience that is unique to our product, while actively participating in the development of future SCF products.

By hiring an Associate Product Operations Specialist we will bring a passionate, energetic team member into the engine that drives SCF’s core product: the flight deal. Simply put, Product Operations Specialists are the people behind the deals, and as the company and our product offerings grow we're focused on having a strong, dynamic team of Flight Experts to ensure the SCF personal touch our members love is evident throughout our products. You will report to the Product Operations Manager Willis Orlando.
In the short term, you will
- Learn about how our product is produced and gain an understanding of the technical tools involved
- Learn about our members, with the goal of deeply understanding them, participating in regular member interviews
- Develop your existing understanding of the flight industry and pricing patterns, along with recognizing shifting route and pricing trends
- Regularly uncover the best flight deals departing from 182 airports across the United States and share these with members
- Craft detailed, informative deal emails while staying true to the Scott's Cheap Flights brand/voice
- Independently produce work product that expeditiously delivers value to every member
- Be mindful of world events and their impact on our members' travel experience
- Think critically about and participate in discussions designed to improve current Product Operation tools, processes, and procedures
In the long term, you will
- Become an expert on our members and translate their wants and needs into product and process improvements
- Identify and implement scalable solutions to improve our deal sourcing and deal prioritization
- Be an integral component of our product squads, bringing a deep understanding of flights, pricing, and our deals product to product planning processes
- Independently use appropriate qualitative and quantitative data points to shape deal thresholds and deal targets
- Work on projects designed to improve the processes and tools used by the team on a daily basis
What you know
- You have a demonstrable passion for travel and helping people travel, and are able to speak to extensive experience searching for cheap flights, for personal or professional purposes.
- You have experience in the travel industry and/or familiarity with the intricacies of travel including airports around the world, airlines, and fare rules.
- You have a strong understanding of normal flight prices from US airports and a sense of trends within these prices.
- You’re agile. You’re able to quickly and seamlessly manage change.
- You’re a self-starter who is able to follow processes, use good judgment to make on-the-fly decisions, and produce work product independently, without detailed oversight.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a keen eye for catching spelling and grammatical errors.
- You’re legally authorized to work in the United States and able to work US hours.
Preferred:
- You have previous experience producing professionally written content under a time deadline.
- You have previous product development experience.
- You have a prior history of demonstrated success in a remote startup, hyper-growth technology environment.
- You’re based in the Mountain, Pacific, or Hawaii time zone.
