Associate Director of Product Design

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

The Sling team is responsible for an employee management platform that simplifies restaurant scheduling, centralizes team communication, and provides insightful labor cost analytics. 

As a design leader for Sling, you will build the products restaurants need to manage their team. Working with product management, engineering, and research counterparts, you will develop a vision for how Toast can leverage our extensive platform to ensure restaurant labor operations are a breeze. You will lead a team of product designers to validate, refine, and execute on that vision. And you will evangelize the team’s vision and progress to our executive leadership team and your stakeholders.

You will deeply understand the restaurant industry, including the needs and pain points of restaurant owners, managers, and staff. Based on that understanding, you will work with your team to create simple, innovative experiences that allow restaurants to cut through the complexity of people operations. You will lead the design strategy and execution for high impact initiatives. And you will bring a culture of collaborative design to your teams.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• Substantial product design experience focused on B2B SaaS products
• Experience leading high-performing product design teams and identifying and developing exceptional product design talent
• A track record of creating end-to-end experiences across an entire customer journey
• Expertise in data-driven design with an ability to gather and leverage qualitative and quantitative measures of user behavior
• An ability to zoom in and out of the work appropriately in order to drive the design vision for your product and managing how the product is coming to life
• Clear, concise, and persuasive communication, whether the audience is executive leadership, your direct reports, or your stakeholders

• You have experience designing for user workflow automation or leading service design initiatives
• Affinity for data analytics and insights
• Experience designing for B2B SaaS platforms
• Experience designing for B2B mobile apps
• Domain expertise in scheduling, task management, or chat clients
