UX Writer

About This Position

Ellevest is seeking a talented User Experience Writer to help us tell the story of Ellevest and drive adoption and engagement — specifically across our website and email products.

You have a proven ability to think through a UX design from end to end, with a deep understanding of how to organize user experience messaging to drive desired user behavior. You will present big financial decisions and detailed investing transactions using clear and concise copy, so that the user is able to find, understand and feel good about what they are doing on the platform.

Your copy should have a major voice. We’re smart but not jargoned-out or condescending, and human but not frivolous. We are for women, but never, ever “shrinked and pinked.” Your prime directive will be to make sure the Ellevest product experience is super-engaging, intuitive, well-organized, informative, and consistent.


Responsibilities

You will:

• Think strategically about the overall flow of an experience, the user’s thought processes and emotions, in order to produce messaging to support the desired path for a user
• Work closely with product designers from conceptualization through iteration to create copy that drives desired user behavior within the Ellevest product experience, make that experience best in class: seamless, extremely helpful, powerfully rewarding, and fun
• Create and iterate on transactional email copy that is triggered by the user’s actions or needed actions within the product
• Participate in user research sessions to test product content for success and efficacy prior to launch
• ​​Participate in multivariate copy and design testing to help move the business forward with winning concepts in a quick and timely manner
• Manage an archive of product-related messaging to create a library of consistent messages
• Regularly audit messaging housed within the product experience messaging for freshness, consistency, performance
• Research and implement best practices in UX messaging

Qualifications 

You have:

• 3+ years of experience in user experience/product writing
• Ability to adapt the bold and fun Ellevest voice across various platforms and uses without losing the brand — while advocating for the user above all
• Demonstrated skill turning complex ideas into informative, clear, and engaging copy
• Experience with communication flow: labeling, form fields, empty states
• Proficiency with user testing and multivariate testing to inform and iterate messaging
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Accountability for prioritizing projects, communicating progress, and delivering on time
• Passion for our women-oriented mission
