UX Research Intern

About the role:

We are looking for a UX Research Intern to work alongside our UX Research and Design teams to make an impact in an exciting product space. As a UXR Intern you are someone who is able to gather insights about customers from a variety of research methods. Candidates should also be able to analyze research results and convey those insights to the appropriate people in the most engaging and actionable manner.

In this role, you will:

• Work cross-functionally with design, product management, marketing, and research to plan, facilitate, and implement studies that address both user behaviors and attitudes. 
• Employ (and learn) a wide range of qualitative research tools and techniques
• Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, Statistics, or a related field graduating between Dec. 2023-May 2024.
• Must be able to come on site in San Francisco to work directly with the product teams and conduct in-person research
• Ability to clearly communicate your findings, and justify recommendations to stakeholders
• The ability to be flexible and inventive, using non-traditional approaches to research and user testing, given our product space

An ideal candidate also has:

• A desire to understand how humans think and act. You enjoy meeting, interviewing, and observing users in their own environments.
• Experience with qualitative UXR methods including: in-depth interviews, ethnographic research, diary studies, persona development, journey mapping, card sorting, and/or usability testing
• Relevant experience within user experience, applied research setting and/or product research and development
