Spotify is looking for a User Researcher to join the Freemium platform teams who enable the user journey from our free app to our paid products.
You will work on a team of qualitative and quantitative user researchers and support Messaging, Commerce and Customer Service platforms at Spotify. These platforms are an ecosystem of self-service APIs and tools, which come together in several internal products. Your goal would be to help us understand the users of these platforms, who are also your colleagues as well as our end users, who are Spotify listeners.
You will build a deep understanding of our users' needs, goals and workflows, turning qualitative and quantitative user research into insights to ensure that we are building platforms that make Spotify employees productive and result in high end user satisfaction.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with a cross-functional, geographically distributed team of data scientists, user researchers, product managers, designers and engineers across EMEA and the US.
- Define, plan, and conduct exploratory and evaluative user research and apply rigorous analysis to understand and document complex workflows and processes.
- Develop and iterate on your own research roadmap for the platform teams who you will be working with.
- Connect and build trust with internal platform users and partners who have different, and sometimes conflicting, responsibilities and needs.
- Deliver compelling insights, stories and artifacts to help drive evidence-based product and design decisions.
Who You Are
- Have proven experience in user research working on internal tools and platform teams with internal and end users or for a SaaS company.
- Experienced in working with platform engineers, designers and product managers as primary partners and willing to gain technical knowledge to build engineering trust.
- Have a good understanding of technical terms such as SDK, API, client or data system and be able to speak the engineering language.
- Autonomous in scoping, prioritizing, conducting, analyzing and communicating research.
- Familiar with quantitative research methods, utilizing metrics and A/B tests, and able to synthesize quantitative data with qualitative data.
- Passionate about a user-centered, evidence-based approach to product development, while balancing business needs.
- Willing to take complex or nuanced information and rapidly distill it into actionable insights.
- Have proven experience with handling internal (your colleagues) and external user recruitment for research studies.
