Product Designers at Databricks balance the creativity of a craftsperson with the analytical curiosity of a data scientist. We design simple and collaborative products that have the power to delight a discriminating and highly technical audience.
The impact you will have:
• Contribute to the product design for authoring experiences across the Databricks platform
• Build an understanding of the Databricks developer audience and the jobs they wish to accomplish using our code authoring tools
• Skillfully balance design investments in higher level workflows, while at the same time owning the craft and execution of the smallest keyboard affordances and micro interactions
• Design a developer experience that spans the authoring lifecycle from exploratory to production code
• Explore bold new ways for generative AI and conversational assistants to enhance the developer experience at Databricks
• Gain an understanding of Databricks business objectives, users, market opportunities, and competition. Become well-versed on the Databricks product and its personas (Data scientists, data engineers, data analysts and administrators)
• Deliver designs for Databricks’ product and contribute to the overall direction of the product
• Able to work with Engineering, Product Management and other key leadership to lead important project from brainstorming to completion
• Seek and provide design feedback and collaboratively improve the design process
What we look for:
• 7 years of product design work experience
• You have a unique combination of technical knowledge and visual design skills which allows you to design powerful and intuitive developer tooling
• You have the skills to create not only the details of a graph, but also the UX craft to build an easy user experience for customers when they are creating a graph or visualization
• A system thinker who has the vision to design the big picture, and the tactical ability to break it down so that engineering can succeed in building it incrementally
• Proven ability to ship great developer experiences
• A bachelor's or master’s degree or equivalent, ideally with specialization in HCI, Interaction Design, graphic design, computer science, or related disciplines
• A portfolio showcasing the end-to-end design process, from creation to production
• Experience designing products in the Big Data space
• Experience coding Python, R, SQL or other languages that could be most relevant to the field of data visualization

Pay Range Transparency
Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
