About the Design team

The whole design team works across most things at Checkout. From brand identity, events and performance marketing to physical brand experiences, to holistic product experiences on web and mobile, with great technical documentation.
We’re a fully complementary team of researchers, writers, designers and operations, where some are embedded into small project teams and others work across multiple projects.


About the Brand Design team

The Brand Design team sits within the design team, and leads the expressive visual strategy for Checkout. We do this by creating, evolving, and maintaining the visual brand identity design system. We stand by our design principles, systems, and standards that make it efficient in creating world class work with our colleagues and partners.


Brand Designers at Checkout

The designers at Checkout constantly push for better, not just different. We create systems and processes that enable us to create work at the highest quality at speed, constantly evolving and pushing our brand. Our designers excel at succinctly describing design choices that are precise, obvious and elegant, making our brand as iconic as possible.

Staff brand designer is an expert in the following:

  • Expert level in understanding, translating and articulating brand strategy, turning it into world leading brand communications and experiences
  • Expert in questioning briefs and pushing for better creative
  • Expert level in attention to detail and craft –with great skill in typography, typographic hierarchy and layouts for successful communications
  • You’re able to quickly and creatively visualise intangible and abstract business processes, turning these into compelling creative solutions
  • You love your craft and are hands on, constantly pushing your work until all details are resolved elegantly
  • You’re a guardian of our brand, with a great understanding of brand and branding and how we utilise these across various channels and communications
  • Inspire everyone around you in creating a culture of excellence, and thrive on teaching, coaching and mentoring designers
  • You are highly skilled in presenting your work, the process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and you’re proactive in getting constructive feedback to help you produce your best work
  • Oversee the work of internal teams and external partners to ensure everything meets our standards and is of course on brand
  • Amazing track record of creating iconic creative work, yet you don’t rest on your laurels and feel your best work is still to come
  • You’re passionate about checkout’s vision and purpose

You might be working on:

  • Leading end-to-end campaigns that span our brand experience, working with Brand Marketing to elevate how we do campaigns through strong creative and strategical leadership, as well as creatively driving the Brand Design teams outcome.
  • Creatively supporting our brand awareness and recognition, working cross functionally to enhance our brands reputation and leading OOH and other creative outcomes.
  • Creating, developing and executing campaign toolkits for multi channels, leading the team to produce detailed campaign look and feel toolkits that enable creative longevity and simpler creative execution for partners of the business.
  • Overseeing and pushing the team, signing off work and pushing designers to create better outcomes
  • Sophisticated white paper reports and data visualisation, detailed and well presented analysis of trends, current and future, and visualising information in compelling and creative ways, both static and dynamic.
  • Creative leading how we tell celebrate our partnerships, collaborating cross functionally to enhance how we tell the stories of our successful partnerships.
