About the Role:

Betterment’s Product Marketing team is responsible for introducing our target market and our customers to the innovative financial products that help make their lives better through long-term, managed, diversified investments. We’re looking for a senior product marketer with experience launching major products and supporting key product growth initiatives, to own and lead strategy for our consumer-facing retail investing business. We’re looking for someone who is deeply passionate about the customer and is eager to dig in and drive full go-to-market marketing strategy and execution for our investing product area. 

As our Sr. Product Marketing Manager for Betterment’s investing lane, you will be responsible for defining and executing on product initiatives independently and setting strategy for how we market our core investing product and features. You’ll be a key contributor to our business and product, bridging the gap between the marketing org and other functions such as our trading, investing and operations teams. You’ll partner closely with product, design, and engineering squads, and company leadership to present and review product launch plans and growth initiatives.

This role is remote eligible, with a preference for candidates in the New York City area.  Colorado has an annual starting salary of $138,000, a competitive equity package, health, dental and vision benefits, and a 401(k) offering. This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of an incentive bonus. The actual pay may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience.

A Day in the Life:

  • Be a key part of the GTM planning for our soon to be released Crypto managed portfolios, marketing a first of its kind long term investing product for this asset class
  • Develop a thorough perspective on Betterment’s target customer, and our investing product and features, working to simplify complicated investing concepts for retail investors
  • Collaborate with marketing, creative, product, and leadership develop executable go-to-market plans, creative briefs, and strategy decks that deliver company OKRs
  • Work with analytics and insights teams to understand the customer and develop clear insights that inform positioning and messaging for new products and partnerships
  • Work with the internal creative team and our external agency partners to shape plans, write creative briefs and key positioning statements
  • Work closely with the Investing team to position and market our ESG investing products, including the fast growing climate impact portfolio
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior product marketers

What We’re Looking For:

  • Extensive product marketing or product management experience with a strong focus in launching and growing major product initiatives
  • An excellent communicator capable of driving strong cross-functional collaboration and effective management of senior stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of what it takes to effectively position and message a new or existing product offering for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with analytics platforms like Mixpanel and Looker. Bonus points for SQL experience, but not required
  • Scrappy, nimble and resourceful. You must be able to work collaboratively to find creative solutions to unique challenges and demonstrate authority and expertise
  • Experience at a fast-growing technology company is strongly preferred. Experience at a FinTech or investing company is nice to have, but not required
  • Experience using HubSpot, Figma, Asana, and similar products

What Happens Next?

We may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, depending on the role, as we aim to collect a robust set of data points throughout the interview process.

On average, it takes us around 2-3 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability and sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision.
