Hi there!

Zapier’s mission is to make automation work for everyone, make everyone more productive at work, and help teams supercharge their business processes. That’s only possible when the top-notch automation products can seamlessly work together to help our customers automate their business at scale and easily navigate, organize and understand the workflow system they’re building at Zapier. We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to drive large platform-wide experiences like global search, asset organization and product information architecture. This is a high-impact, cross-collaborative role; your work in these areas will help users succeed in building with Zapier across all our Products.

You’ll join a cross-functional group dedicated to managing the experience across Zapier’s automation platform. You’ll work with users, partners and cross-product teams to define how the entire Zapier automation platform works, connects, and organizes better together to create a seamless workflow experience to meet our customer's needs at any scale.

If you’re interested in advancing your career at a fast-growing, profitable, impact-driven company, then read on!

We know applying for and taking on a new job at any company requires a leap of faith. We want you to feel comfortable and excited to apply at Zapier. To help share a bit more about life at Zapier, here are a few resources in addition to the job description that can give you an inside look at what life is like at Zapier. Hopefully, you'll take the leap of faith and apply.

Zapier is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace, dedicated to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce. We understand that the perfect candidate doesn't always exist, and job descriptions can't capture everything. That's why we adapt roles to fit the unique strengths and skills of the individuals who join our team. So, even if you don't check every box in our job description, we encourage you to apply if you meet these key criteria:

About You:

  • You optimize for speed of learning. You constantly search for signals from users. You understand how to synthesize insights and translate them into actionable plans. You communicate what you learn with your team and work with teammates to iterate on solutions.
  • You thrive when presented with the unknown. The bigger the problem, the bigger your resolve. You stay focused on optimizing outcomes regardless of the many paths that could lead to it. You have experience working in a fast-paced environment that demands quick thinking and fast action.
  • You excel in leading with vision and executing incrementally. You seamlessly shift between creating a compelling North Star vision of a complex platform-wide project and break it down into detailed delivery to motivate the team toward an exciting future and guide them to ship quickly to optimize the speed of impact.
  • You excel in spearheading platform-wide initiatives. You thrive on projects that span the entire product suite. You’re a system thinker, strategically connecting different parts of the product to form a unified user experience and enhancing the wayfinding, managing, and information architecture to elevate the product as a whole.
  • You’re a natural facilitator and excellent at driving collaboration across the org. You bring cross-team stakeholders and designers together, plan and lead workshops, design sprints, design jams, and discussions, balancing multiple viewpoints and driving strategic alignment to achieve objectives.
  • You’re a skilled designer and are continually growing. You have 5-8 years of experience designing lovable digital products in a fast-paced environment. You leverage agile development and design thinking. You lead discovery, divergent thinking, establishing vision, shaping, and detailed product design delivery. You’re passionate about deepening your craft, elevating the quality and accessibility, and expanding your impact as a designer.
  • You are self-directed and result-driven. You effectively manage your workload, priorities and timelines. You proactively identify opportunities, create plans, and co-own team goals and roadmaps with cross-functional partners. You measure success, improve processes and escalate projects when at risk.
  • You bring user goals and business value together. You consider yourself a product designer and can point to work that you’ve done that helped scale the business and created user value. You understand how great design brings the two together.
  • You’re a natural storyteller and a great communicator. Zapier is 100% remote, so impactful communication – visual, written, demo, and presentation – is crucial to communicating design work and collaborating with your teammates.
  • You love design critique, and share your work early and often. One of Zapier’s values is Growth Through Feedback and this applies to our design work too! You are comfortable working in the open, and love seeking feedback on your work frequently to learn, validate and iterate.
  • Excellent visual and UX interaction design skills, and ability to contribute to our design system.

Things You’ll Do:

  • Actively learn about our users, products and business strategy to identify new opportunities and gaps.
  • Work with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager to strategize roadmaps, milestones, and team goals to achieve objectives.
  • Lead the creation of delightful platform experiences by leveraging a solid design thinking process that brings user needs and business value together.
  • Develop a compelling North Star vision to motivate the team to create an exciting future for the project.
  • Plan and facilitate cross team workshops, design jams, and collaboration to drive strategic platform initiatives across different areas of the product.
  • Conduct user research and testing, synthesize VOC and communicate findings to your product squad.
  • Lead design discussions and present alternative solutions based on user and business needs.
  • Request feedback from the broader Product Design team and other teammates around Zapier through asynchronous or synchronous communication.
  • Collaborate and share work early and often. Create interactive prototypes or provide links to assets with the teams and users for feedback.
  • Deliver high-quality, complete designs, and specifications for projects alongside Product Managers and Engineers.
  • Champion UX best practices to ensure your team makes good design decisions together.
  • Adhere to established design system patterns and help improve upon them to elevate the product.

Zapier Compensation Guiding Principles

We believe all Zapiens should be rewarded competitively and equitably, using practices that are simple and transparent. This philosophy ensures we’re able to find, grow, and retain exceptional people from a broad range of backgrounds. Here’s how we define our compensation principles:

  • Competitive: Zapier pays well among the technology sector.
  • Equitable: Consistent pay practices; competency-based pay.
  • Simple: Pay is well understood, and pay practices are built for scale.
  • Transparent: Zapiens know how pay works, including how their pay is determined.

The pay ranges for this role are:

United States: $152,200 / $190,200 / $228,200 USD

Canada: $152,200 / $190,200 / $228,200 CAD

A Candidate's compensation package is finalized once the interview process is concluded and accounts for experience, competencies (job knowledge, skills and abilities) and internal equity. We use a competency-based approach to base pay, which means we set pay for all Zapier employees based on their competency and skills demonstrated in their role. In alignment with that philosophy, the upper half of a pay range is typically reserved for individuals who have consistently demonstrated a high level of job knowledge and skills for their current role and level while at Zapier.

How to Apply

At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of education or companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.

After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!

Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base. Zapier will consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, consistent with applicable laws.

Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact [email protected].
