Responsibilities
- Partner with product and engineering teams to deliver premium products and services to Matterport customers.
- Provide clear vision, design direction, and ownership for each initiative: creating deliverables, communicating with your team, and validating your work with customers.
- Show your work during the conceptual design phase by creating user flows, story maps, workflow diagrams, and other strategic artifacts as necessary.
- Explore multiple solutions to problems, knowing when to spend time on high-fidelity mockups and prototypes versus simple sketches and wireframes.
- Humbly present your work to others and be receptive to feedback.
- Collaborate regularly with engineers to measure design feasibility, pivot when necessary, and ensure designs are implemented in accordance with intent.
- Monitor where design patterns break down and promote necessary changes to our design system and processes.
- Be generous with your time and expertise to help level up colleagues, provide ad-hoc design critiques, and improve the team holistically.
- Define metrics for user engagement within your product area and work with others to analyze data, identify trends, and opportunities for iteration.
- Help build the product design team by participating in interviews and providing thoughtful feedback.
- Be an advocate for the user. Always.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of product design experience, ideally within a SaaS company.
- Aptitude for deconstructing complex problems
- A great designer and an even better problem-solver, with a portfolio demonstrating your work, successes, and even failures.
- Comfortable leading discovery sessions with customers, walking them through prototypes, and coordinating user testing opportunities.
- A strategic thinker with big ideas, but understands when to focus on the details to get the job done.
- Not afraid to stand up for your designs, but also humble enough to take feedback and constructive criticism well.
- Comfortable diving into an existing application and finding the balance between leveraging work in place versus starting from scratch.
- Ability to quickly prototype your ideas for feedback using a variety of tools.
- Experience exploring new tools and methods and making recommendations where appropriate.
- Worked with a design system and successfully distributed it across an organization.
- Deeply familiar with the tools that bring design to life for both iOS and Android.
- Passionate about accessibility and best practices for making products usable for all.
- May need to travel 10% of the time.
