This position
As a Senior Information Experience UX copywriter, you act as an integral partner with our design, product management, and engineering teams. You focus on making the product easy to adopt and helping our users learn to use DocuSign to power their businesses. 

You own DocuSign’s direct written communication and standards for users within the product user interface. You help shape the in-product information direction for our products and create engaging informational product experiences for our customers. You thrive while writing original copy, and when collaborating in partnership with Product Design, Product Management, and others. 

You are passionate about engaging customers through voice and tone, learning from data, testing and iteration, to improve the customer experience in the product. You welcome feedback from a wide variety of stakeholders, seek research and data to support ideas, and tap your intuition to make the right decision in the absence of definitive facts. You adeptly balance business needs, technical feasibility needs, and simple, engaging, user-centered writing.

This position is an individual contributor reporting to the Senior Manager, Information Experience and is designated as Flex.

Responsibilities

  • Create UI copy for web and mobile applications
  • Partner with product designers and information architects to create information flows and terminology within complex workflows from concept, wireframes, prototypes, and into production
  • Write new copy for the DocuSign interface across platforms. This includes UI labels, feature naming, and informational and instructional in-app direct user communication (ex. new-user onboarding, service updates, account information)
  • Collaborate with product designers to create a cohesive cross-product experience
  • Oversee projects that cross different teams and disciplines; ensuring consistency and unblocking solutions
  • Work with the user research team to identify opportunities where research can inspire, optimize, or evaluate the UI content; in the absence of research, seeks and uses data as well as having an intuition for what will work well 
  • Partner with product management and technical leads to develop plans and strategies for their parts of the product
  • Work with product managers to identify OKRs and ensures we have meaningful metrics to express both product area and overall business performance
  • Revisit existing product copy in an effort to constantly refine DocuSign user communications  
  • Be a steward of DocuSign’s in-product copy. Drive clarity and consistency in tone, terminology. Support a systematic approach for all in-product copy and works to inform and drive in-product content guidelines
  • Engage and incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders across DocuSign, seeking buy-in from senior product and design managers
  • Serve as a resident UI copy expert, collaborating and providing coaching for fellow copywriters, designers, PMs and engineers as appropriate
  • Archive product copy decisions, establishing and referring back to precedents in order to maintain consistent communication with DocuSign customers
  • Facilitate negotiations and agreement on UI copy across levels with cross-functional departments

Basic qualifications 

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience 
  • 8+ years of experience with UI copywriting, technical writing, or UX/product design

Preferred qualifications 

  • 5+ years of relevant experience is with high-tech, including SaaS web application technology products, features or services from ideation to launch to maintenance and updates, including working w/ cross-functional teams in product development and delivery
  • 4+ years of experience translating customer, market, competitive and technical insights and requirements into simple, clear, effective, and powerful product copy
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership 

Based on Colorado law, the following details are for Colorado individuals only: Colorado base salary range: $115,800 - $163,575  and eligible for bonus, equity and benefits at https://www.docusign.com/company/benefits.
