We are a "remote-first" company and there's no requirement for anyone to come into the zeroheight office on a regular basis - more details on what remote-first looks like
We are hiring a Senior or Principal UX Researcher. The role is fully remote although we do have offices in London, UK you’d be welcome to use. You’ll help us better understand the people who use our products and services and help us craft ever better experiences that don’t just solve their problems but emotionally engage them.
We’re extremely lucky to have lots of very passionate users – they love zeroheight and it’s crucial we always have a deeply empathic approach to design.
This is our first UX Research role and we are looking for someone to lead UX Research across zeroheight. You’ll not only be an expert in doing the research itself but also able to help and advise others on the best way to tackle a specific research goal.
The key responsibilities are generative and evaluative research. For generative research, we’d like you to get out in the field and help us understand the complete experience our users have with zeroheight and the wider context of Design Ops in general. Through observing behavior and asking the right questions, you’ll be able to dig into the motivations that drive them, the pain points they’re trying to solve and how they currently try to overcome them.
You’ll also be experienced in evaluative research, testing our products and services (existing and during development) with users. Our users range from designers to developers, product managers to UX Researchers and they work at all different sizes of company and for in-house teams and agencies. So you’ll need to be comfortable working with a variety of people in different contexts.
You will be writing research plans, screening, recruiting and scheduling participants, conducting the research itself (whether interviews, diary studies or whatever you decide is the right tool for the job) and then collating the data for analysis.
You are able to facilitate the analysis and synthesis of that research data into insights and product value propositions. Although you’ll always be effectively uncovering and sharing insights, you’ll know when to forgo a report in favour of facilitating rapid iteration instead. You can help us formulate the right ‘how might we’ question. Working closely with Product Designers and Product Managers to document the insights from research and the opportunities it uncovers, you’ll help create strategic documents that guide our continual work (whether that’s personas, experience maps or something else). You’ll improve the shared understanding of our users throughout the company.
You’ll be our only dedicated user experience researcher but that doesn’t mean you’ll work alone. Other members of the product team will conduct research with your help as needed. You’ll advocate for what good research looks like across the company. And, of course, we encourage anyone and everyone to observe the research where practical and take part in the analysis.
Before we tell you about what we’re looking for, this is a senior position so we do expect you to have some good experience doing what we describe but, just to be clear, we don’t expect you to tick all of these boxes. We’re especially keen to hear from people with diverse backgrounds.
We’re building the world’s UX infrastructure and lowering the barrier to creating great user experiences by enabling any company in the world to have a sophisticated design system. We’re allowing companies to design and develop user experiences in a much more systematic way and deliver high quality UX 10x faster.
We've built a design system documentation product people love and thanks to this we've grown through word-of-mouth to 1500+ customers including multiple Fortune 100s. We're the market leader in our category, grew our team by over 4x in 2021 and have the backing of world-class investors like Tribe Capital, Y Combinator and Adobe. But design system documentation is just the beginning... we're now perfectly positioned to become the leader in DesignOps and transform how products are built. That's why we expanded to the Bay Area in 2021 to fulfil our ambition of being a truly global company ? ?
