Company Description

Nurun is looking for a senior-level UX Designer to join our team; supporting the design of meaningful and intuitive solutions via research, testing, and prototyping to solve complex problems for our clients and their customers.

By nature, Nurun is fundamentally human; from our culture of collaboration, to how we work with our clients, to how we empathize with and serve the customers of our clients. It’s critical that our candidates operate on this level, supporting and enriching our human-centric culture.

Job Description

What is the role?

Like all of our Experience Design (XD) practitioners, your responsibility is to the user. You will empathize with and understand the goals, desires, and preferences of our target users. You’ll use this knowledge to help develop conceptual, insight-driven, and performant solutions to deliver on existing key accounts at the agency, as well as supporting new business initiatives.

This role requires you to have a demonstrated understanding of user research techniques, familiarity of best practices in information architecture, interaction design, and rapid testing & prototyping. You will apply design thinking to a breadth of client opportunities — contributing to the creation of digital products (everything from site experiences and mobile apps, to digital tools, IOT, and marketing campaigns). This huge range of mandate is part of what makes Nurun different, and the successful UX Designer is someone who is excited to embrace challenges and who aspires to learn and grow.

Qualifications

What you’ll be doing at Nurun

  • Undertake desk research activities; gather, analyze and summarize industry and audience insights
  • Experience audits, content inventories, co-creation workshops
  • Plan and execute user interviews and usability testing to seek insights and validate your solutions
  • Develop and iterate on storyboards, concept diagrams, user flows, IA, user interface sketches, wireframes and detailed functional specifications under the guidance of product owners and XD team leads to solve for the brief, business objectives, and user needs
  • Building prototypes to express the solution in collaboration with front-end developers and validating the solution with end-users through usability testing
  • Collaborating on solutions with other experts at Nurun (accounts, product owners, strategy, UI design, content, SEO, data, and technical roles)
  • Be an active advocate for Experience Design and how we can contribute to various projects and internal agency initiatives
  • Research, explore, learn and share new industry tools, best practices, new technologies, techniques, and methodologies

About you, our ideal candidate

You’re innately curious, proactive, self-learner, and a driven problem-solver

  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience, ideally with agency experience
  • Strong portfolio of 3-5 pieces demonstrating your understanding and craft of key UX & IXD activities applied through project deliverables in Discovery, Definition, and Design
  • You seek to find the sweet spot between understanding business needs (what drives the business, what success looks like ) and human needs (goals, expectations, frustrations) and how to solve for both
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and soft skills: adeptly collaborating with our project and client teams; you possess a keen ability to balance challenge and compromise
  • Seasoned and engaging presenter: strong analytical skills; clearly articulate complex ideas backed by research, analysis and insights; able to prioritize and summarize into narrative-based stories
  • You understand the intention of being business- and value-minded

Work from home
Do you love working from your couch and wearing pajama bottoms? Good news, Nurun embraces remote work from home! We also have the option to come into the newly (in progress) renovated office if you’re local. Because we miss each other often, and everyone needs a Zoom break from time to time.

Be engaged
We’d love you to participate in Nurun’s culture of sharing, learning and celebrating. We welcome new and exciting ideas, and we gather often to stay connected, share our wins and what’s developing in the agency. There are ample opportunities to share your passions and get recognized.

Have some fun
Let’s drop the trite “work hard / play hard” thing. We tend to be a close bunch, and we have a fun time if that’s your thing. Team social events and celebrations are commonplace, random fun Nurun swag often shows up in your mailbox, and we’re known to get very competitive when it comes to hacking together gingerbread structures and carving pumpkins. We even enjoy inventing our own games! Okay, so the office does also have a rooftop deck, ping pong table, and foosball table. Is that ‘playing hard’?

Feel the support
We really do care about your work/life balance, your health and your well-being! Nurun has exceptional benefits and resources for mental health, and other important health care (recently increasing coverage for mental health services, fertility treatments, maternity leave, and introducing support for gender affirmation care).

Nurun and the Publicis Groupe have a great number of growing diversity, equity and inclusion programs. From frequent professional speakers and panels, to network-wide committees and exciting internal projects, there are many important ways to learn and contribute to these important initiatives.

Professionally, we actively develop a plan for your career goals and objectives that you drive; we want to help you level-up. There is support for training, conferences, industry outreach, and also an agency-wide peer mentorship program. We try hard to foster your professional growth and development, because we’re nothing without our people being their best selves!

Who we are

We are Nurun, at the crossroads of creativity and technology. We create digital experiences that help to grow brands and transform organizations. We are hybrids who organize our work around multi-disciplinary collaboration. Our vision: humans first, technology second. Always the same ingredients, but never the same recipe: we adapt ourselves as needed to ensure the excellence of our products.

We’re a large group of diverse professionals gathered in Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Windsor, BC, and even Saskatchewan! Who are these professionals? We organize as teams of UX and UI designers, Developers, Client Partners, Project Managers, Strategists, and Business Designers (don’t worry, we’ll teach you what that is). Won’t you consider joining us?
