The XD monks in Sydney are looking for a seriously Senior UX Designer to join our team! We are looking for a passionate team player who can materialise the vision of our projects, effectively collaborate and positively communicate within the team as well as our clients, our visual designers and frontend developers, and drive each part of the design process from research and concepting to interaction design and prototype testing.

The ability to alternate between high and low altitude thinking is key for this role, as you'll be exploring innovative approaches and XD strategy with the client and creating detailed functional designs with your team at every turn.

About You

  • You like the challenge of a fast-paced creative environment, working with international teams and clients, where no project runs the same way
  • You’re comfortable telling important people from big brands what they need to succeed and inspire them with innovative ideas
  • You have working knowledge of Design Systems, Workshop facilitation, Discovery and all that it encompasses, Agile processes, Information Architecture, Flows and Screens design (wireframing & prototypes), User Research, User Testing and Design Optimisation
  • You play with content and branding as effectively as you do with functionality
  • You have an eye for UI, but interactions, tasks and journeys are what you design
  • You’re skilled at onboarding new knowledge and adopting new skills rapidly when the work demands it
  • You are keen to take on the most complex problems, with multiple layers, and make them simpler and solvable by working closely with your team and the client
  • You are comfortable pitching design approaches and providing estimates, with strong people and project management skills

About The Role

As a Senior UX Designer, you can be involved in Creative usability projects or early in the Discovery Phase to drive Human Centered Design (HCD) best practice, define approaches and identify key challenges amongst customers. You socialise ideas and approaches with clients, who recognise your experience and value your input. You’re comfortable with both leading—and collaborating with—Strategists, Designers and Developers of any level. They can rely on you to understand Business, User, Content and Tech requirements. In turn you amplify their work by testing it with users and designing improvements where needed.

Requirements

  • Strong technical ability with Figma - creating, collaborating and sharing artifacts such as low fidelity prototypes (this is a very hands on role)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and interpersonal skills. This is a must!
  • Proactive, agile, and collaborative in nature in order to effectively pull requirements from SMEs so you can execute the product design vision efficiently
  • Accessibility & Inclusive Design: You will have a solid understanding of these concepts and be able to lean into and drive inclusive design standards and practices
  • Demonstrate an ability to facilitate customer research and testing sessions, synthesis and collaboration with other designers and stakeholders
  • The ability to leverage customer conversations, data and other inputs to work through how best to deliver high quality solutions
  • Align to our HCD approach: Draw upon your knowledge of following an HCD process to manage stakeholders and projects end-to-end
  • Being able to understand the technical side of things and provide feasible solutions in collaboration with PMs / Devs
  • Experience in large enterprise environments or agencies is preferable
  • Effective time management skills and ability to multitask
  • Persuasive presenter and a strong communicator
