Senior UX Design Manager (Contract)

The Role:

Verbal+Visual is seeking an experienced Senior UX Designer.

As a Senior User Experience Designer at Verbal+Visual, your responsibility is to bring industry best practices alongside innovative and fresh thinking to drive conversion and average time on site. You effectively bridge business strategy, needs, and objectives with target users goals, desires and preferences. 

You have the ability to thrive with limited oversight and bring an articulate point of view to collaborative conversations with Ecommerce Product, Visual Design, and Development. You have the ability to quickly research, strategize, design, prototype, and test your thinking and understand how to adapt your design based on insights gleaned from user research, client feedback, and cross-departmental input. You think about the big picture and love defining user needs and architecture as much as layouts and interactions.

You Will:

• Collaborate closely with Ecommerce Product team to ensure that business and design requirements are clear and actionable while consistently advocating for the user.
• Review and provide feedback to UX Design on iterations for new and existing solutions.
• Provide leadership to define UX best practices with user research, marketplace and behavior trends, and your best ideas in mind.
• Design engagement activities for client breakouts that are collaborative, engaging, and meaningful, to surface client needs, existing pain points, and establish goals (success metrics).
• Synthesize and present our design approach clearly and effectively for client-stakeholders to articulate design intent, processes, and methodology.
• Assist and oversee usability testing to validate design solutions or validate assumptions and hypotheses.
• Assess what kind of testing is relevant (qualitative, quantitative, etc.) to ensure that client expectations will be met and insights are clear and actionable.
• Review recruitment methods
• Provide feedback on testing scripts and prototypes
• Analyze usability test findings and generate reports
• Oversee and assist with the handoff of UX artifacts to Visual Design and Development.
• Generate and review annotations for handoff and delivery of wireframes and prototypes
• Design QA and development support throughout the build.
• Support and grow in the role by actively seeking out and proposing ideas to better improve company operations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university
• 6-9 years of extensive digital commerce experience in a client facing, creative leadership role in a digital agency environment.
• A strong working knowledge of the fundamentals—interaction design, user-centered experience design, brand development, digital marketing and the creative process—as well as new platforms and technologies for the digital channel (e.g. SVG, Ajax, etc.) and related media.
• Excellent presentation skills and communication abilities at all levels of both internal and client organizations.
• Strong ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short- and long-term need. Timelines, budgets, and availability change. We need someone who can roll with it.
