To change consumer finance, Affirm partners with thousands of merchants to offer consumer loans. We're looking for a User Researcher to lead projects focusing on our largest merchants. The merchant research team is newly-established, and this role will take on a broad range of topics in the merchant space. This role will find new research opportunities and will inform decisions about our merchant tools and platform.
In this role, you will establish a regular cadence of research with several cross-functional teams. You will also create clear and engaging research narratives that will tell the story of our merchants and their journey with Affirm.
Most importantly, you will be working with a thoughtful team who values the perspectives of our merchants and work together to ensure Affirm is centered around their goals.
What you'll do
- Create a research roadmap that includes foundational projects.
- Proactively identify research opportunities.
- Design foundational studies that address both user behavior and attitudes.
- Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, and interpret analysis through the lens of UX, HCI, and social science
- Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs.
- Synthesize and communicate research findings to inform business decisions and build greater empathy for our merchants
- Adapt and lead research practices to meet team needs under the tight time frames of a rapidly growing company.
- Work cross-functionally with design, product management, analytics, content strategy, engineering and product marketing.
- Mentor and guide early-career researchers.
What we look for
- 5-7 years in User Research (Note: Level is commensurate with experience)
- Experience leading research on a B2B product
- Deep knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- Ability to thoughtfully prioritize research needs
- Experience in creating engaging narratives from research and communicating them effectively across orgs
- Experience mentoring other researchers
- Excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills with internal and external partners
Affirm is proud to be a remote-first company! The majority of our roles are remote and can be located anywhere in the U.S. and Canada (with the exception of the U.S. Territories, Quebec, Yukon, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories) unless the job indicates a different global location. We are currently building operations in Spain, Poland, and Australia. Employees in remote roles have the option of working remotely or from an Affirm office in their country of hire, and may occasionally travel to an Affirm office or elsewhere for required meetings or team-building events. Our offices in Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Toronto will remain operational and accessible for anyone to use on a voluntary basis, subject to local COVID-19 guidelines.
All full-time jobs at Affirm (excluding interns and apprentices) are tied to a transparent grade-based pay range taking location into account.
