As a Senior User Researcher for Partner AI, you’ll uncover the human truths behind the most ground-breaking shift in user interaction since mobile. Explore how people discover and engage with Spotify on tech platforms, translating insights into strategic framing for teams. Your work will define what “Spotify through AI” feels like — ensuring we’re indispensable wherever people engage with music, podcasts and audiobooks.
What You'll Do
- Drive Human-Centered Insight in Partner AI: Define, plan, and conduct research that reveals how users engage with AI assistants, multimodal devices, and partner ecosystems.
- Shape Product Strategy: Deliver evidence-based insights that guide Spotify’s Partner AI roadmap — influencing integrations, UX, and product direction.
- Explore the Frontier: Investigate emerging behaviours and expectations around agentic, voice-first, and multimodal interactions. Translate ambiguity into clarity.
- Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and Engineering to ensure Spotify’s AI experiences are human-centred and grounded in real needs.
- Shaping decisions “in the room”: Represent research in conversations with cross functional leads, as well as senior executive level stakeholders both from Spotify and our partner organizations.
- Connect External & Internal Worlds: Synthesise user research findings with partner insights to shape cohesive experiences across platforms like Google, Meta, and Apple.
- Evangelise Research Impact: Communicate findings through storytelling, visuals, and workshops that encourage action and drive alignment.
- Advance the Practice: Mentor peers, foster curiosity, help evolve Spotify’s research capabilities in AI.
Who You Are
- Expert researcher extensive industry user research experience, with a degree or equivalent experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, AI Interaction, or Social Science.
- Skilled in a wide array of User Research methods (ethnography, contextual inquiry, usability testing, concept testing) and confidence blending them with quantitative or behavioural data.
- Curious about AI-mediated experiences — from assistants to wearables — and passionate about understanding how humans adapt to emerging technology.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, breaking down unstructured challenges into actionable learning plans.
- A storyteller able to encourage confidence across engineering, design and business teams.
- Excellent communicator, comfortable with senior audiences who thrives in dynamic, live, discussion, debate, and reasoning
- Experienced in partnered or cross-ecosystem environments is preferred — understanding how research can bridge internal goals with external constraints.
- A self-starter who thrives in pushing the envelope of emerging technologies, dynamic environments, balancing near-term delivery with long-term vision.
- A strong system thinker with deep UX expertise to influence scalable, cohesive experiences in partner environments with a deep knowledge and understanding of the implications for Spotify our own experiences too
Where You'll Be
- This role will be based in London or Stockholm.
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
- While our core team are based in Europe, partners and users are often across global time zones. Some flexibility around early starts or late meetings will be necessary in this space. Some research related and partner related travel is expected.
