About The Team:

Research at Netlify is an exploration of possibility and a continuous focus on customer outcomes. We're a growing world-class team set out on a journey to empower the developer in new and unique ways and we're looking for a Senior Product Researcher to help lead the way.

Our Product Design & Research team tackles complex problems and helps bridge teams with a shared vision across the organization. We appreciate teammates who think deeply, speak clearly, and love collaboration and feedback. You'll keep our users at the center of your process, and balance near term and long term initiatives that drive the world closer to realizing a more modern and performant web.

What You’ll Do:

We're looking for a Senior Product Researcher to ground our partners’ decisions in a deep understanding of what people need. You’ll conduct research collaboratively, in a way that gives everyone on the team a path to understanding the research implications. Your mission at Netlify is to create world-class developer experiences in partnership with your product and engineering peers.

This role will be directly responsible for framing and prioritizing research needs. Our partners want you to collaborate with them to identify the most impactful research opportunities; it’s a great role for researchers who want to use their product thinking skills. There's plenty to do, so be ready to roll up your sleeves and help shape our processes, team culture and norms, and help raise the quality bar for developer experiences.

With our team, you’ll be sharing and collaborating early and often, driving and facilitating meaningful discussion with a blend of remote synchronous and async transparent communication. You’ll own the stories that project meaningful customer outcomes and you’ll be driving transparency with thorough documentation. Our researchers partner with our design & product management teams to help frame problem spaces, inform roadmap priorities, and iterate on elegant solutions that elevate the overall quality of the experience.

  • Learn about the business, how the developer tool ecosystem works, where we're headed, and what makes developers tick. During your first month you’ll be wrapping your head around  ongoing mission critical initiatives that help differentiate Netlify in the market
  • Work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering partners to represent the research function, build bridges, facilitate design discussions, and give feedback in planning and product channels. You’ll be a trusted contributor, leader, and connector of efforts between pillars and departments
  • Be involved in team activities like critiques, working sessions, weekly syncs, and identifying opportunities for impact and helping evolve the way we design and build products at Netlify
  • Establish strong async communication rhythms with your peers and leaders, practicing transparency and visibility in your progress against areas of focus
  • Establish customer success metric baselines and ensure that teams are working toward impactful learning
  • Solicit feedback from your peers, including other product researchers and teammates in your product team and support your team with thoughtful feedback to help shape the way we tell customer experience stories at Netlify
  • Contribute to our expanding research practice and partner with designers and product managers to conduct their own research
  • Lead research projects from start to finish, deliver actionable recommendations that support both tactical and strategic decision making, and workshop your insights across the organization

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience with or understanding of working on complex, technical applications
  • A history of leading research efforts at a strategic level and shipping products at scale, in addition to a breadth of research experience throughout the iterative product development process
  • Multiple examples of showcasing how you’ve made meaningful impacts to products as a result of your research and a strong portfolio of research deliverables (e.g. workshops, slides, reports, posters)
  • Strong grasp of qualitative methods with some experience in quantitative methods preferred.
  • Proficiency at iterating & circulating concepts with peers and building toward high confidence proposals
  • A high level of comfort in working with designers and product managers and is well versed in using tools such as Figma, Github, and Qualtrics
  • Rigor about details, accessibility, consistency, and high standard of quality
  • The ability to create structure where there is ambiguity and can quickly adapt to organizational changes, workstream shifts, can help others navigate staffing and priority changes
  • Demonstrated autonomy and the ability to work async with peers. We’re seeking a team member who enjoys working with a diverse group of people with different expertise, all while working in distributed locations
  • Curiosity and openness to learning new technologies, methodologies, and best practices
  • We welcome remote candidates based in North American timezones
  • The ability to thrive in a cross-disciplinary and collaborative environment, where colleagues teach and learn from one another
