About Wealthsimple TAX
Launched in 2012, SimpleTax was founded on a few basic principles: taxes should be easy and transparent enough to do them yourself; the cost to prepare your return should be fair; tax software should be friendly, fast, and fun.
In 2019, SimpleTax was acquired by Wealthsimple and relaunched as Wealthsimple Tax. Since then, we’ve helped millions of Canadians file their taxes by staying true to those founding principles. And, we’ve started integrating Tax into Wealthsimple’s ecosystem of investing and banking products, which will enable us to radically re-imagine & simplify tax filing, and also unlock net new value for our clients.
We're looking for an experienced, customer-focused Sr. Product Manager to join our Product team, leading Wealthsimple Tax, the simplest and fastest way for Canadians to file their taxes.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Work directly with the VP of Product & GM of Tax define the Tax product vision and strategy
- Lead the planning, development, and launch of new Tax experiences
- Support a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and user researchers throughout Tax’s product lifecycle
- Work with product design and research to identify, design, validate, and launch simple, smart, and inspiring features that reflect the needs of our customers - functional, educational, emotional and otherwise
- Build a deep understanding of the Tax systems, processes, and partners — and how they all fit together
- Partner with marketing, brand, operations, and other engineering teams across the company to launch, optimize, and scale the Tax product
- Establish and own metrics to track the growth and adoption of Tax; analyze quantitive and qualitative data to assess the impact of what you ship, and inform what we do next
- Help elevate the Product Management practice at Wealthsimple and create an inclusive and supportive team culture
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A multi-year track record of building and shipping consumer products and features loved by thousands of clients customers
- A keen interest in Tax. We don’t expect you to be an accountant or an expert on the tax code — but we want someone who is excited about the problem space and the opportunity to simplify tax filing for every single Canadian
- A passion for talking to customers, and experience with design thinking methods (e.g. customer interviews, usability tests, and co-creation)
- A shipping mentality. We don't believe in spending forever analyzing and debating. The best way to validate something is to ship it — so let's ship it, learn, and iterate
- A scientific method to building products. You define your riskiest product hypotheses, and design experiments to validate or invalidate them
- Enough technical know-how to talk with engineers about architecture and technical considerations that impact product, and a desire to learn what you don’t know to help drive decision making
- A passion for financial inclusion and building products that increase access to financial freedom for everyone
And someone who is:
- Able to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity and adept at synthesizing actionable problems, insights, and requirements from raw, unstructured qualitative and quantitative data
- A thoughtful, critical thinker who follows a systematic and rigorous approach to problem solving
- Scrappy and comfortable flexing into different roles to support your team
- An excellent communicator that can convey complex ideas succinctly and clearly
- A naturally collaborative and empathetic leader, comfortable working with a diverse group of stakeholders across the organization, making sure every voice is heard
- Passionate about creating simple and elegant user-experiences. You can’t help but critique the UX of the apps you use
- Curious and inquisitive. You ask “why?” a lot. Like, a lot. A lot a lot.
