At January, we are redefining the narrative around debt collection, transforming it from a process often marred by harshness into one epitomizing fairness and respect. Our approach, a stark contrast to traditional methods, involves software that automates collections while prioritizing empathy and dignity. Our technology not only streamlines the process but also empowers borrowers to negotiate their debts, embodying our commitment to humane and ethical practices. This approach not only eases the burden on borrowers but also improves efficiency and effectiveness for financial institutions.
As Senior Product Manager, you’ll own the platforms that turn compliance and money movement into strategic advantages. You’ll lead the development of systems and tools that streamline audit workflows, strengthen regulatory controls, and surface real-time insights into cash flows. Partnering with Legal, Ops, Finance, and Engineering, you’ll translate complex regulations and financial operations into intuitive, automated processes and client-facing dashboards. You’ll also define the end-to-end payment journey, from retries and remittances to borrower notifications, to improve success rates and efficiency. In this role, you’ll craft seamless, trustworthy experiences that empower our clients to manage compliance and payments with confidence.
You’ll make an impact by:
Shaping and refining the long-term vision for compliance and money operations—translating regulatory requirements and cash-flow needs into clear product priorities
Owning the roadmap - prioritizing features, balancing business and technical constraints, and defining rollout plans that drive measurable value
Leading end-to-end discovery, design, and delivery, partnering with stakeholders to move from user research through launch and iteration
Collaborating with Legal, Ops, Finance, and senior stakeholders—aligning on objectives, surfacing risks, and securing buy-in across the organization
Championing compliance and payment excellence—guiding other PMs to bake our standards into broader product strategy and ensuring seamless, trust-building experiences
You might be a good fit if you value:
Genuine Collaboration – You enjoy building tight feedback loops with cross-functional stakeholders and solving complex challenges together.
Outcomes Over Output – You prioritize scalable systems and tools that unlock meaningful improvements in client performance and operational efficiency.
System-Level Thinking – You see products as part of larger interconnected ecosystems and design with both reliability and extensibility in mind.
Empathy and User-Centricity – You care about how clients experience your product and make it easier for them to act with confidence and clarity.
Growth Mindset – You thrive in evolving, ambiguous environments and are motivated by solving hard problems with creative solutions.
Appetite for New Technology & Efficiency - You are curious to leverage AI to generate efficiencies to better optimize you and your team’s time, and seek to solve problems for clients and stakeholders through AI where they make sense
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5+ years experience in product management, delivering successful and innovative software products.
User obsession. Everything starts and ends with the needs of consumers and creditors. To design strategically beneficial offerings, you must develop a thoughtful perspective on what will and won’t change in the next few years.
Strong communication skills. You’re comfortable leading a team through influence and with quantitative and qualitative evidence. You can make complex strategy decisions digestible and easy for the whole team to understand. You err on the side of clarity and explaining the obvious.
Comfort with calculated risks and rapid iteration speed. You are biased towards action. You know that exploring areas with an asymmetric upside is worthwhile. You appreciate that nothing gives us insight into what resonates with our users like rapid iteration. You minimize risk where possible but act decisively and fast when opportunities present themselves.
Nice to Have:
Compliance Experience. Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as finance or healthcare and familiarity with related regulations (e.g., FDCPA, TCPA, FCRA) and data protection laws.
Financial Acumen: Familiar with financial systems (e.g, payment processors, ledgers), understanding of money movement processes, and the implications of these transactions on company compliance and reporting.
