About the team

Lattice's Platform Team is building products and services that enable users – internally and externally – to achieve our mission of making work meaningful. Over the coming quarters, this team plans to deeply invest in new experiences that help ensure these outcomes for the companies and individuals we serve everyday. This role will be excellent for designers who love systems thinking, who get really excited about the details of user experience and user interface design, who thrive on serving and working with designers and engineers across product teams, and who love coming up with creative ideas to help drive customer impact.

As one of the first designers on this team, you will focus on designing and building world-class user interface designs as well as advocating for best practices that are foundational to our Engineering, Product and Design teams. Your work will enable quality-of-life improvements to the way we work and ensure a consistent experience for customers across our entire platform.

Who you are

You have 3+ years of experience designing and maintaining production-level design systems at a multi-faceted organization.

  • You love the detailed intricacies of UX/UI design and implementation
  • You know how to design complex components with multiple use-cases for application across a scaling organization
  • You have worked on design systems, and understand how to build and maintain them, along with the necessary communication to ensure proper and healthy usage
  • You have experience championing improvements across a large organization’s design system
  • You understand and champion accessibility best practices and are passionate about helping every potential user

You’re a great communicator and collaborator.

  • You understand what it takes to communicate to a large and diverse audience that will use the systems and patterns you and your team own
  • You thrive on close collaboration with partners, but also take responsibility and ownership over the execution of your work
  • You’re clear and concise in explaining your thought process and in enumerating the tradeoffs made in your work
  • You take care to write documentation so that your colleagues can also own, understand, and maintain the system
  • You work well with designers, product managers and engineers to achieve optimal solutions
  • You care about contributing to and supporting a wider design team and helping to influence the industry at large

You enjoy taking an active role in the design process.

  • You care about the details of the implementation, and you prefer to be hands-on
  • You will be a forward-thinking advocate across the business for other teams to adopt changes from the design system
  • You love mentoring, supporting, and championing best practices with other designers and colleagues
  • You have experience taking the lead in planning and executing robust design systems

Responsibilities

  • You'll work within a team to create, scale, and maintain a design system for use by our engineering, product and design teams
  • You'll help design and build flexible, performant, accessible, and reusable front-end components for our design system
  • You'll collaborate closely with design, engineering and product on the core pieces of the product that we own (navigation, dashboards, etc.)
  • You'll be a champion for accessibility and consistent design across our engineering, product and design organization
  • You’ll work closely with other design colleagues to document and refine usability and interactions across our product suite, including taking ownership over paying down design debt
  • You’ll make contributions to our design team practices, identifying and evangelizing improvements to our team output, including advancing our visual and interaction design execution
  • You'll socialize and elevate the role of design within the company
  • You'll embody our team values and design principles
