Design at OpenInvest
We’re looking for Senior Product Designers to lead design for various software development workstreams, all reporting to the Director of Design. These positions will form the foundation of OpenInvest’s design function, which we’re building from the ground up. You’ll have a chance to help shape the design team’s culture, values, and processes. A core tenet is that although we’re ultimately the ones responsible for design, a key part of our job is nurturing a belief within the organization that great design ideas can come from anywhere, and enabling processes that allow these ideas to be heard.
What You’ll Do
· Own design for your assigned workstream, as a member of an agile software development team
· Establish and maintain relationships with product managers and other business stakeholders
· Evangelize agile software development, user-centered design, and Lean UX practices, including validation of business assumptions, data-driven decision making, iterative design and development, and measuring outcomes
· Advise stakeholders and development team members on design best practices
· Conduct interviews, surveys, usability testing and other research, to identify internal and external users’ needs and pain points, and to inform requirements gathering and prioritization
· Produce design artifacts, including personas, flow diagrams, sketches, wireframes, mockups, visual design specs, clickable prototypes, etc.
· Facilitate collaborative design workshops
· On some projects, you may work with other JPMC product teams to coordinate design activities, and to maintain corporate branding compliance and standardization of UI components
· Help maintain and contribute to design systems, research libraries and other shared resources
Who You Are
· 6+ years of UX/Product Design experience
· Experience designing complex, data-driven products
· Strong portfolio of case studies that showcase your end-to-end design process, including validation of product and design decisions
· Self-motivated, and able to execute design projects with limited supervision
· Able to understand high level product strategy and vision, and how those concepts map to product requirements
· Able to persuasively present work to senior stakeholders, and to defend design decisions
· Able to clearly communicate designs using the artifacts, and at the level of detail, appropriate to different contexts and audiences
· Proficient in Figma, or able to learn quickly. (Figma is our primary design tool, and we’ll be using a shared design system; you can use what works for you (within reason) for rapid prototyping)
· Experience working with design systems (open source or proprietary)
· Experience working in an agile environment and conducting design activities integrated into agile product management and software development processes
Nice to Haves
· Prior experience designing financial applications or similarly complex enterprise applications, or in a comparably regulated industry
· Good understanding of financial concepts, and experience working with financial advisory management tools and applications
· Experience coordinating design activities/inputs for projects involving multiple designers or dedicated functions (visual design, research, content strategy, etc.)
· Experience constructing and working with Figma components/instances, styles, and team libraries
