Hi 👋 - We're Ember - an app designed to liberate millions of business owners from the burden of dealing with accounting and tax by using technology to automate the process of managing their business finances and obligations.

Since launching in 2019 - we've built a product our users love, achieved a clear product-market fit, raised a fresh round of funding, and have become one of the fastest-growing start-ups in the UK today - with over 1,500 businesses running on Ember.

Over the next six months, we’re looking to continue this rapid growth, getting Ember into the hands of thousands more business owners. To help us get there, we are looking for a Senior Product Designer to own the end-to-end journeys in our web- and mobile-apps for all our users. You'll both optimise existing journeys, and build our new ones as our feature-set expands. You and your manager (Head of Product - Karina) will evangelise user-centricity across the company and beyond.

You will work closely with the product team to design assets and UI components, while also collaborating on design research to create user flows that ensure a friendly user experience for our customers. You will have the opportunity to design from conceptualisation through to production, as well as prototype and test your designs both internally and with our users.

  • You'll rapidly prototype and test out ideas using a range of tools (we have a usertesting.com subscription 🥳 and are excited to take your lead on seeing how else we can separate good ideas from the bad efficiently and systematically).
  • You'll have an incredible eye for detail and consider all edge cases. We hope this amount of detail brings you joy (it does for us 🤩).
  • You'll always look out for better ways to manage developer handover, working as #oneSquad to deliver some amazing solutions to our users.
  • You'll work on our design system (it still needs a name 🛫), making sure that the user experience is consistent, predictable, and delightful.
  • And you'll design most of the user journeys for the app, alongside our incredible designer Nika 👩🏻‍💻.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of layout, hierarchy, typography, color, and motion
  • Excellent knowledge of prototyping tools (Figma etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Adobe CC tools (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • You are able to identify both small and large usability issues within the product and know how to test your assumptions with our users or look-a-like audiences (e.g. on usertesting.com)
  • You are able to recognise UX debt and make recommendations for its resolution with the help from the Head of Product
