Our Oscar Design Organization is a multidisciplinary team of supportive and collaborative designers and researchers that examines the entire member journey and considers the design of systems to be as important as the artifacts we make. Our practice is human-centered, our work is rooted in empathy and research, and we lead by example and with our values.

As our Senior Product Designer on the telemedicine team: you will help us explore, design, and shape the vision for the Care Delivery tools that enable Oscar Care providers to connect with Oscar patients. In your day-to-day, you will generate and explore ideas, design, test and ship high-quality features, and play an active role in defining the vision for our telemedicine platform. You’ll get to partner with some smart and friendly people along the way to impact roadmaps and define our goals, united under the common Oscar goal of challenging what healthcare looks like.

This role reports to a Group Product Design Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Define the experiences of an Oscar provider navigating patient care: from addressing how consultation schedules are managed, to improving the efficiency and experience for patient encounters (tele-visits)
  • Become an expert on the provider care journey and oversee the design vision and strategy of the product area
  • Own the design process and partner closely with cross-functional peers like product managers, tech leads, engineers, data scientists, clinicians and business stakeholders to drive clarity around strategy and alignment on solutions
  • Champion the needs of the user to the larger org through workshops, vision activities or presentations
  • Collaborate with other product designers across the organization with feedback during critiques and thoughtful contributions to the design team at large
  • Manage one product designer within the area, while balancing IC responsibilities
  • Structure and conduct outcomes-driven user research and usability testing
  • Design visually compelling experiences for all users and contribute to the Oscar design language system (Anatomy)

Requirements

  • Years of experience: 5+
  • Experience with formal mentorship or management of other designers is highly ideal
  • Concrete examples of designing and shipping complex web interfaces
  • Comfort with internal tools, system workflows, and power-user interfaces
  • Flexibility and comfort with addressing technical constraints
  • Experience with user research and prototyping
  • Ability to translate requirements, goals, and research into simple and useful UI
  • Passion for fixing healthcare
  • Comfortable with stakeholder management
  • Genuine and inquisitive, humble yet determined. We’re a team that’s excited to learn from each other and about ourselves, whether that’s through wild ideas or constructive criticism. We work hard to nurture a creative environment where we can take risks, grow, and do better work.

Bonus points

  • Experience with the healthcare space
  • Storytelling techniques such as animated prototypes or user flow diagrams
  • Interest in design ethics, accessibility, and other topics relevant to the healthcare space

We value designers from diverse backgrounds and will consider candidates with different types of education and relevant professional experiences in determining qualification. We know there are candidates who might not fit everything we’ve described above, or who might have experience and skills we haven’t considered. If that’s you, don’t hesitate to apply. Your experiences and your demonstrated skill sets are far more important than your level or industry expectations.
