About The Team

Our APAC team is part of Hoppers International Expansion plans and the Marketplace team is responsible for making Hopper the best travel App that our consumers can engage with to plan, book and manage a variety of their travel facets that the App provides while immersing them with a best in class localised user experience. In 2021, our business grew 650% and our sights are set high for 2022. Your role as a Product Designer will be to design features for Hopper’s mobile app that are both functional and delightful. You'll become a foundational member of a talented, high-impact team whose goal is to build elegant, data driven customer-centric product solutions that make travel easier.  As part of the APAC expansion team, localisation is at the heart of all our products and you will deliver results-oriented solutions and passionately act as the voice of the customer by soliciting direct feedback through surveys, user studies, and usability testing. Whether you're designing a new way for travelers to shop for hotels or creating new product offerings that guarantee customers the best prices, you'll work closely with a product manager, data scientists and team of engineers to define the boundaries of design problems, seeing them from multiple perspectives and advocating for simple and impactful solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and understand each of the APAC expansion markets to determine how Hopper can increase their market share by incorporating local nuances to provide an enhanced localised experience to our consumers
  • Own all aspects of design for all verticals related to Marketplace including ideation, research, smoke tests, prototyping, usability tests, and visual design
  • Deliver solutions with focus on a great localised user experience while balancing company goals, design cohesion, and ease of implementation
  • Seek out, understand, share and incorporate qualitative and quantitative feedback throughout the design process leveraging surveys, user testing and user data
  • Work autonomously in a cross-functional, agile product group with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to prioritise and build new features
  • Prioritise appropriately: Use good judgement to make appropriate tradeoffs to speed up product learning and balance competing priorities

Preferred professional experience:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and shipping cross platform (iOS and Android) consumer-focused products and working with product and engineering teams
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your past work and design process
  • History of leading discovery and ideation and aligning the group around a vision and approach
  • Proven track record of designing completely new experiences and features
  • Demonstrated experience in visual design, interactive design and prototyping
  • An up-to-date understanding of mobile best practices, design standards, and trends
  • Ability to own design process end-to-end from concept to implementation including a basic analysis of success measurement
  • No ego when it comes to product or design; strong commitment to doing what is right for the customer and the company
  • Comfort with a fast-paced, agile development process
  • The ability to independently flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle ambiguity
  • Have a great sense for aesthetics that could both work with or extend Hopper’s style

  • Strong creative problem solving skills
  • The ability to apply innovative thinking by applying leading industry techniques to your work
  • Knowledge sharing and workshops to educate the team on the importance and relevance of incorporating UX research in a product
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • In depth understanding of consumer behaviour within APAC - primarily B2C products
  • Enthusiasm and curiosity to investigate and answer complex questions based on data

- Hopper’s fintech offerings, such as Price Freeze and Rebooking Guarantee, now represent over 70% of its air revenue.

Hopper Cloud partners include Capital One, Kayak, Marriott, Amadeus, Trip.com, and MakeMyTrip.

- The industry opportunity for Hopper Cloud is enormous as projections estimate that if all travel distribution channels offered travel fintech, it could increase the total consumer spend for the sector by $200 billion annually.
