The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a data-driven, customer-obsessed, craft and people-caring Senior Product Design Manager to join our Self-Serve team within the Growth Area. Your team will shape how Grammarly’s AI capabilities are showcased to professionals and students, demonstrating why Grammarly is their top AI writing partner! You’ll drive the strategy and execution of our Acquisition and Activation experimentation and innovation - owning our first impression and engaging with millions of customers on effectively communicating our brand's story and value. You’ll collaborate with a diverse, dynamic team of growth experts committed to innovation and experimentation, focused on users learning about Grammarly on organic acquisition surfaces like SEO pages to help them sign up and get started in the product.

In this role, you’ll focus on:

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate, identify, and prioritize opportunities by working with growth leaders in Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, and Research. Strategically plan effective new Acquisition features and methods while ensuring alignment and clarity between design and partners.
  • Design Strategy: Own the Getting Started journey for our users and identify drop offs and opportunities for more seamless and delightful experiences. You’ll lead your team in designing rapid A/B testing and iterative improvements to showcase the right value to our users, driving impactful changes based on data-driven and research insights. You’ll advocate for design principles and best practices within the organization, and create frameworks, workshop sessions, and tools to ensure strong customer-led thinking.
  • Project Execution and Management: Oversee your designers’ process from concept to execution, ensuring timely delivery of projects while maintaining quality and craft standards. Clearly communicate design objectives and requirements to the team. Provide creative vision, user psychology insights, and direction to your team, thinking strategically and always considering the user's needs. Guide your team to integrate user research and insights into their process to ensure user experience enhancements resonate with our audiences.
  • Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment. Attract and hire design talent to the team, offer guidance and support, help them overcome complex challenges, encourage learning and growth opportunities, and assist them in setting achievable career goals. Capture and reflect on their accomplishments with partners, leaders, and peers.
  • Advocacy: Represent your teams’ work and strategy to executives and leaders and advocate for how it impacts Grammarly’s strategic business objectives. Partner with other Growth leaders on how Growth shares its insights with partner teams to increase impact and integration into core product experiences.
  • Inspired Improvement: Explore, discover, and investigate design trends, tools, and technologies, and encourage the team to adopt new methods for improving workflow and output. Inspire the team and partners to push the boundaries and take bigger design leaps.
  • Partnerships: Build strong relationships with partners like Core Product, Marketing, and Coda, identifying opportunities for operating rhythms, incubating projects, connecting the right people to our initiatives, and exploring new approaches to growing the business.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in a design role, with at least 5+ years in a leadership position. Experience with Saas, growth testing, and Acquisition/Activation strategies both in the product (ex., onboarding, new activated user experiences, feature discovery) and outside of the product (organic acquisition, SEO and homepage strategies, sign up/sign in).
  • Has a strong design eye that connects brand/visual design to product design. This role spans organic and web-based customer acquisition to getting new users started in the product.
  • Proficient in design tools like Figma and Creative Suite.
  • Strong communication design skills; can write and relay context, concepts, and business cases with engaging storytelling and impact.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
