This is incredible momentum, and the product marketing leader will play a key role in helping us reach our next level of growth.

As a leader on our Product Marketing team, this role will work alongside peers in Revenue Marketing, Brand Marketing, Community, and Marketing Operations. You’ll be responsible for positioning & messaging, customer marketing, and collateral development for dbt Cloud. As such, you bring a wealth of experience building compelling product narratives that get to the heart of a product's differentiation, with an additional orientation towards business value.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Create the messaging platform for dbt Cloud
  • Align with sales effectiveness to drive messaging awareness and seller proficiency for differentiating dbt Cloud relative to alternatives
  • Author and coordinate participation in messaging that helps our audience answer, “why dbt Cloud? Why now?”
  • Elevate the way we communicate about dbt Cloud through various mediums like thought leadership blogs, demo videos, one-pagers, and solution guides
  • Test audience strategy through customer interviews, and iterative messaging
  • Work closely with the Campaign, Pipeline, and Field marketers to customize product-related content for various audiences, industries, and regions.
  • Measure messaging influence on self-service activation, sales-assisted pipeline volume, and enterprise deal velocity

You are a good fit if you have:

  • 10-15 years experience in Product Marketing, ideally at an open source software organization
  • Strong writer and communicator, with a knack for storytelling
  • Strong bias for action, experimentation, measurement, and iteration — you have a framework to ensure success, but you’re not afraid to fail fast
  • A passion for digging into market and audience trends to surface the most impactful messaging for each
  • A strong understanding of, and empathy for the challenges faced by modern data teams
  • Experience creating multi-channel content (blogs, videos, guides) that supports sales-assisted and sales-led deal cycles
  • Experience working with solutions architects and product managers to produce technical guides and tutorials
  • Experience in a managerial and leadership role, including managing fully-remote teams

You'll have an edge if you have:

  • Proficiency in dbt, or other tools in the modern data stack
  • Experience developing narratives for developer and executive personas
  • Taken open source software solutions to market
  • Led competitive intelligence teams
  • An understanding of traditional enterprise ETL tooling like Informatica, Boomi, or Talend
  • Experience working with internal brand designers or managing external contractors to bring your content to life

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $185,000-$251,000
  • Equity Stake
  • Benefits: In the US, dbt Labs offers unlimited vacation (and yes we use it!), 401k w/3% guaranteed contribution, excellent healthcare, paid parental leave and a home office stipend. For employees outside the United States, dbt Labs offers a competitive benefits package.
