Design has been a part of Tines’ story since it was founded, and great design plays a indispensable role in our shared success. Designers at Tines are trusted and relied upon to deliver inventive work to a high standard, and we are supported in doing so.

In this role, you’ll work as part of the brand studio, part of the wider design team which includes product designers. You will be involved in a wide range of projects, from conception to realisation, in design and direction. You’ll report to the creative director.

Responsibilities

  • You will be accountable for design deliverables across multiple areas including, but not limited to: design for print, social assets, marketing outputs, events displays and booths, documents, web pages, emails, design for screen and motion; and all processes that feed into those outputs.
  • Conceptualisation, research, idea generation and aesthetic development in projects.
  • Preparation of final artwork/production files as needed.
  • Ensuring the Tines brand is represented at the highest quality.
  • Developing your own practice through experience and training.
  • Staying up to date with industry developments and creative production approaches and techniques.
  • Developing new proficiencies as a project requires it.
  • Seeking direction when needed to ensure the work is in on the right track.
  • Codifying and systemising successful work on an ongoing basis.
  • Clear proactive communication to stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Any other adhoc tasks or responsibilities in line with competencies.

Activities

  • Graphic design: visual hierarchy, layout, information architecture, and design direction as they apply to a diverse set of contexts.
  • Conceptualise a creative vision and guide it to actualisation.
  • Seeking out opportunities to initiate projects.
  • Working creatively within existing brand guidelines, looking for areas to expand or refine them.
  • Contributing to the wider design team in critique sessions.
  • Giving constructive guidance to others in the team and help to cultivate an environment of learning.
  • Providing others on the team with technical advice and creative opinion.
  • Collaborating with colleagues beyond design, to understand their function’s strategy and supporting the company in meeting its goals.
  • Collaborating with and directing outside suppliers and vendors.
  • Actively participating in hiring activities.
  • Planning project timelines and resources, writing projects plans with coaching and advice.
  • Helping plan team offsites and meetups.
  • Making a business case for initiatives and approaches when needed.

Requirements

  • You love design and care deeply about the quality of your work. You’re never satisfied with the status quo.
  • Experience working with internal design teams on web design, visual design and other brand-related projects.
  • You are familiar with how to communicate product features in a visual manner.
  • You’re self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative.
  • You can be trusted that you’ll do what you say you will and deliver on time.
  • You give actionable feedback to teammates in conversation and writing.
  • You’re proficient at involving and working with stakeholders.
  • You take accountability for your own work and don’t rely on close oversight to maintain standards.
  • You value feedback and handle it professionally, knowing how, when and if you should prioritise it.
  • Expert in the core tools, able to choose the right one for each task.
  • Able to keep up with a fast pace and quick turn over of work.
  • Able to juggle multiple projects.

  • Consider context Think about your work in the broadest way possible - how will it strengthen the brand, or move it forward? What else is it connected to?
  • Be opinionated but open to change Bring a point of view but be ready to change that. We have an amazing group of colleagues and customers who provide feedback on a regular basis.
  • Collaboration Foster a collaborative design process. Share your work early and often. Seek out regular feedback from stakeholders and the wider design team. Present your work in updates and critiques. Filter and prioritise any feedback for a successful outcome.
