Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Brand Designer to join our Brand Design team.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

As a Senior Brand Designer, you will work as a member of our small but mighty internal creative team to bring our brand to life and push our visual language. You will be heavily involved throughout the creative process—from requirements gathering and brainstorming to design crits and production support. In partnership with our Creative Director and Creative Leads, you will drive their own projects while collaborating with other creatives and marketers to ensure that all deliverables are on strategy and on brand.

You will report into the Creative Director, Brand.

Work Location:

This position is based in our New York City office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid

Pay Transparency:

The base pay for this role is: $135,792.00 - $178,227.00 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead designer on expansive, detailed digital and physical campaigns across lines of business.
  • Ensure all designs align with established brand guidelines and standards, while also having the flexibility to adapt and evolve as needed.
  • Partner closely with operations and production vendors to see the work from ideation to completion.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and copywriters to craft compelling, meaningful assets for each target audience.
  • Present work to stakeholders across the organization, clearly articulating the why behind creative concepts and design choices.
  • Own the QA process and all versioning for your designs.
  • Attend team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and design critiques to share inspiration, provide feedback, and contribute to collective problem-solving.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance without compromising quality.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years in a similar role in-house or at recognized design studios.
  • 6+ years experience working on integrated marketing and advertising campaigns including digital, social, broadcast, OOH, direct mail, and collateral deliverables.
  • 6+ years working with Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and other design tools.

Bonus points:

  • Strong design portfolio showing a clean, modern aesthetic and a passion for visual narratives.
  • Examples in storytelling, design systems, illustration, photography, print or digital.
  • Animation or motion design experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. (Bonus for Spanish, too!).
  • Interest or experience in research, strategy, performance marketing, or emergent creative trends.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 5%
