Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you. 


What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA.But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

We're looking for a Brand Designer to join our team to help us bring the People experience to new heights.
At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Development. Design creative solutions that position Canva internally and externally as the place to work, crafting a clear visual identity and unique point of difference across strategy, art direction, production and design.
  • Strategy. Partner with our Brand Designer and Strategist to build and develop Canva's visual identity for an internal audience, weaving the creative red thread through your work to bring Canva's people experience to life.
  • Expertise. Provide brand and creative technical expertise across the People Supergroup and empower them to design by developing templates, tricks & tips to grow their creative confidence and communicate more effectively visually.
  • Campaigns: Define, design and develop creative campaigns to drive engagement internally and / or externally, that deliver compelling and insightful strategies, stories, campaigns, brand platforms and creative concepts for agreed programs of work.
  • Collaboration. Present concepts and facilitate creative workshops to ensure internal alignment and proactively contribute to to creative approaches and solutions for programs of work.
  • Ways of working. Working with the Brand Creative Team and our Program Manager, determine how we best partner, collaborate and align with Canva's processes and cadences.
  • **This is a 1 year contract (full time), with opportunities for transitioning to permanent or extension for the right fit

You'll probably be a match if:

  • You have 8+ years in a forward-thinking digital brand design role. You have an outstanding portfolio that showcases diverse brand design experience, and if it includes brands in motion, it's certainly a plus. Your creative thinking & attention to detail shine through.
  • You are a collaborator. Working in the People Team, you're often not working with people who have experience working with creative teams before, which means that sometimes, you have to go the extra mile to ask the right questions.
  • You like a little bit of ambiguity. We're a new (but great!) team and we're still figuring stuff out. Being OK with that is key to this role, we don't have all the loose ends tied up out but we work together to get there and achieve the best possible outcome.
  • You have initiative. See a potential opportunity? Pitch it. Want to try something new? Go for it. We're looking for someone who is hungry to have as much of an impact as the rest of us and is proactive in finding opportunities to improve and build on processes and systems to help mobilise us.
  • You are a people person. We work with people, not product. It's about experiences, feelings, values and culture. There aren't things you can touch, so being able to tap into your human side is key to this role. 
About the team:

The People Brand, Community and Engagement Team consists of three core teams, Talent Brand, Seed, and Engagement - our small but mighty creative team. Our purpose is to generate buzz and drive engagement of Canva as an employer - whether that's through creative employer brand actions to attract talent, developing internal engagement campaigns to improve the people experience, or mobilising our internal skills to support communities in need.
