Who we are & why we’re hiring

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we have presence throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We're on a journey to becoming a globally anti-racist, anti-oppressive, anti-bias company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and visionaries to help fuel our growth momentum.

About the job

This position is needed to set the strategic direction of the competitive marketing team with specific goals and OKR’s to measure success.

Twilio is looking for a product marketing team lead with a vision for the future of communications. In this role, you will lead competitive and upsell strategies, focusing on unlocking the value of Twilio’s Communications business. Specifically, you will work on initiatives to differentiate our CPaaS offerings and broader solution-selling within Twilio’s Customer Engagement Platform.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead work streams related to key competitors while providing direction, coaching and guidance for a team of product marketers.
  • Have top-notch presentation skills so you can stand in front customers, deliver a solid narrative, and scale insights internally with impact.
  • Be the subject matter expert on Twilio CPaaS communication offerings and provide best practices for competitive strategy and a Twilio upsell motion.
  • Work with sales to win wallet share in key deals, and demand generation teams to help create and execute campaigns to create pipeline, and broader marketing in support of events, content marketing, and case studies.
  • Work in an environment that is always in motion--manage priorities so that you handle top priorities across competitive and upsell strategies as they crop up, without losing momentum on your long term projects.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • You can drive deep relationships with sales to help win competitive deals, generating internal and external-facing content, talk tracks and strategies that accelerate sales cycles, increase average sales price and improve win rates.
  • You can effectively collaborate with marketing to develop competitive campaigns that bring Twilio’s brand to new logos and increase pipeline.
  • You’re a strategic thinker – you like to build deep product knowledge and figure out how to highlight our key product differentiators, as well as how to find opportunities and trends to create differentiated positioning within the broader Twilio Customer Engagement Platform.
  • You’re an owner – you like to leverage your expertise to provide direction and guidance to the team, mentor employees, and deliver input on day-to-day operations.
  • You wear the customer’s shoes – you like joining customer calls to help differentiate Twilio, understand how and why customers should increase their investment in Twilio over time, and how they can benefit from a one platform approach for customer engagement.
  • You’re a great storyteller – you can clearly articulate complex concepts and competitive considerations to leave a lasting impression both internally and externally.
  • You have experience working in Salesforce tools to filter and identify account information and key trends
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Desired:

  • You've worked with technology products that have targeted organizations with cloud-based services, especially as horizontal platforms.
  • You have experience in building and executing competitive campaigns
  • You have extensive experience in designing differentiated messaging, and competitive battlecards and sales plays
  • You have experience with Crayon and Clozd platforms

Location

This role will be remote, and based in the United States. Approximately 20% travel is anticipated.
